Those photos are very interesting.  I'm perplexed by the huge scaffolding.  I'm curious why they need it rather than just using a crane

It is for theming not for construction
The leading theory is that this is a former mine elevator shaft structure

Ah, I see it now.  That does look like a head frame for a mine hoist.

Looks like it could be pretty similar to this structure based on the base!

I agree, from Outlaw Run today Sunday June 14, you can see more pieces for it in the staging area as well as what appears to be black round supports.

The footer layout doesn't lend itself to anything massive.

Not trying to be perverted but it's shaped like a penis and two balls... or what we call a "rocket ship" at the MS when the boys draw them on their desks.

My guess right now is a Stryker like Voltron but with Mining theme.

The tower currently being constructed seems to be a mark in favor of this theory as that coaster has a similar structure used as "theming". Perhaps SDC wanted their own take on Voltron.

I think my favorite thing so far is that with the queue, grass and foliage is already growing back. I'm really hoping that continues with the other areas of construction, because that area looks fantastic. I'm excited to see what the new structure ends up being as well

The amount of footers at the top of the hill is insane. I would think this thing would launch upwards through the mine shaft tower, then go backwards down the hill and swoop back around to launch up past PK. Doesn't look like the footers go through the structure though, looks like it curves around it? I guess we'll see.

Got some video of the construction site I'll try editing tonight if I am not too tired. They were actively working on the tower and doing something down in the valley in front of PK again. I am wondering if footers will still spring up there or not.
