Big building with supports at the top of it. They're doing lots of ground work around the plunge area.

Here's my pictures of the update. My visit was brief as the park was overrun with high schoolers and preteens making it a bit unpleasant up there. The local districts must have been doing their annual trips. And yes they were adding fill dirt and packing it around all the footers near the Plunge and waterfall. Not sure what those small sideways mounted footers are in the foreground by WF there. Might be for theming or signage? They look too small for track.

EDIT: lol didn't see the pics already posted above earlier, just the text. Guess cell service was acting up at the park not displaying them.

Duelist

I really hope the viewing area for Powder Keg opens back up after the new ride is complete and running.  I always liked to watch the fire come out of the station and the spinning barrels.  I always thought that was great of SDC to have extra themed elements for those watching the ride.  Thanks to everyone posting updates with pictures.  Swoosh always does a great job posting updates on the MIG site.

I messed around on Google Earth this morning to do a rough comparison of how much land TT, PK, and WF take up versus the new project.  2027 is over an acre less than PK, but larger than WF and TT.

^A few of us are still convinced that 2nd clearing west of PK by the train tracks will start seeing activity/footers soon. They have been doing a lot of grading & other dirt work prepping it for something.

Wildfire

Very possible.  I also mapped out DC Rivals to get an idea of land size, since I am very hopeful for a hyper.

And one more, Maverick.  I realize it's an Intamin but I feel like a Mack version of it could really fit well theme wise, and land size

Are we confident in it being Mack officially? I know the footers looked like Mack.

You should also map Hyperia, one of Macks newest Hypers, they had to do a more compact layout due to land restrictions IIRC. Its also why it got that really cool turn dive from the first hill.

This is pretty rough.  It's a little hard to tell the exact border of the ride

Wow I'd say that's pretty spot on. If you add that little piece of clearing west of PK that's roughly the same amount of land as Hyperia. I actually thought it was a lot bigger than that. That really gets the mental gears turning on what this could be. 8)

Here's a look on the Powder Keg side. It looks like they're making a large concrete pad where the new fence has gone up. The new fence is odd anyways, it's blocking the trees and the new structure. Lots of digging going on down past the powder keg launch.

That fence is around the whirlpool scene.  It's not new

That makes sense, I must've misremembered my last visit in that area. Looking back at the previous picture I see it now

From the photos, it looks like the steel structure is actually 2 independent structures. My guess is one structure is building only and one is track only. Could keep the whole building from vibrating like TimeTraveler does when a train leaves the station.
