If anyone knows of changes, theater swaps, disasters, etc., let us know.

This article from the Branson Courier reveals some sad news about the closing of the famous Engler Block. It seems someone is looking to replace the classic craft demonstrations with an auto museum and restaurant. While I'm happy that it won't go vacant, this was another of Branson's big attractions for us.

Should SDC try to take advantage of the output crafters and lure them to the City? Would it be a possibility to include them in the new CC in 2010. We shall see.

I never did understand that phrase - but don't explain it to me. Anyway, sitting idle for a year isn't going to raise capital and isn't going to raise the value of depreciating equipment, so something has to happen. We'll wait and see.

Just my background as a history and language arts instructor...

The allusion is to the dreams experienced by smokers of opium pipes. Opiates were widely used by the English literati in the 18th and 19th centuries.

I don't get into Branson that often this time of year. I am usually only down there for meetings at Celebration City or Silver Dollar City. This time I decided to bring my camera. I'm not that great at photos, but here goes....

Lots of construction in town...

Osmond Theatre. I would like this old smelly barn to be completely overhauled.

Hmmm, Shrine of the Holy Spirit, thats one I haven't heard of any construction of yet...And for what happened to the Grand Palace in Dec. I would have expected much worse damage in regards to the articles about the water incident.

Here is what I found about the Shrine....

Shrine of the Holy Spirit Groundbreaking

(Branson, June 31 2008) Monday, June 31st marked the ground breaking of a new memorial and monument to the Holy Spirit adjacent to The Mansion Entertainment and Media Center. Envisioned and created by owner O. Gene Bicknell ( Pittsburg, KS ) The Shrine of the Holy Spirit is dedicated as a place of comfort, solitude, peace and tranquility.

As in Washington, D. C., where a plethora of monuments and memorials are dedicated to a variety of peoples and events, this new structure will mark forever honored ground to the Holy Spirit. The shrine is a one-of-a-kind venue with towering 30 feet walls and a 100 foot tower-spire topped with the world and Calvary's cross. Hand carved quotations pertaining to the Holy Spirit will decorate the marble walls.

The entire project is constructed of blue stone (a blue-gray marble) from upstate New York and will include a chapel, pavilion, fountain, and courtyard. Perched on the highest point overlooking Branson, the Shrine to the Holy Spirit stakes a permanent claim in the ever growing Branson skyline.

Construction on The Shrine to the Holy Spirit was begun in the spring of 2008 and will be completed and dedicated spring of 2009.

I am always happy to take picture if I get the time.

I hope they hurry on the Haygood's theatre it doesn't look like it will be ready March 3rd, but stranger things have happened. They are tearing down a lot of old buildings on 76 and I think it is for the better. Also, The Grand Palace's lobby wasn't in the shape I thought it would be either, but it did smell a little like mildew. I still think someone should do something good with it like give it to me. Ha!

I am all for religious freedom and if you want to build a shrine all power to you. However, this thing looks like its going to be an eyesore in front of the Mansion Theatre. I don't understand why you would build this in your front yard. There has to be better places to build this thing.

Hope to see some of you on opening day!
