One of the new additions to the Fall Harvest Festival for 2011 is the demonstration of chalk artists. This video features one of the artists, Internationally acclaimed and award winning Chalk Artist Jennifer Chaparro.

Here is a link from Ozarksfirst.com regarding one specific artist.

I saw her during my visit a week, or so ago. She was drawing a giraffe at that time. Boy, is she amazing! The shadowing, and color blending, and eye for details is really quite something. She is a wonderful addition to the Harvest Festival.

Those chalk drawings are stupendous! Really out of this world!

During art school, I HATED chalk. I could work with pastels/ chalk just fine, and I really had no choice, but I hated the mess, the feeling in my hand (this was an issue with chalk from the time I was little writing on blackboards). Man I wish I had the patience for those large scale drawings though! My medium of choice is Acrylic paint. I am too impatient for others like oil, and I tend to overwork watercolors...

I took hate the feel of chalk. It is not pleasent and I am glad I am not the only one with feeling of chalk-phobia.

I am so glad to have a Smartboard, as well as a markerboard in my classroom. Just the thought of chalk makes me literally need to wipe my hands off.
