Smile's Prid Drawing Salve

I wore cowboy boots without socks (I know, big mistake) and I got a really bad blister on the side of my heel. It had already popped before I took off my shoes so now it's just a circle of missing skin about the size of a dime.

Does anyone know if I should put Prid on it? I've used prid on a lot of other things, like bee stings and zits. It also says it help with pain, and this blister hurts REALLY bad. I was wondering if anybody thinks it would be a good idea or not if I put Prid on the blister, or is it considered "broken skin"?

I've always used it for splinters and such. I was under the impression it was called "drawing salve" because it would "draw" the embedded object out of your skin. Not sure if it would help a blister or not.

not sure. I recently used prid on a boil and poof it was all better!!! on a blister I would use neosporin......

I think I will use Neosporin cuz I don't want to use prid and make it worse. That means I have to go to walmart, ugh.

I just used some prid two weeks ago for my feet. i was working alot of overtime at work spending alot of hour's in my work boots, and during one night in my sleep i guess i itched my feet raw, it was so bad they actually bled. used prid drawing salve and 6 days later all cleared up.

As a coach, and a former collegiate runner, I don't use the stuff, but I have heard of it. I usually tell my athletes to "air out" their blisters, and utilize some liquid bandage or second skin type stuff to seal the worn spot.

thats okay sand man, I have never heard of the stuff up until a couple months ago when my kid got this nasty looking boil on his back.....it was gross. but Prid cleared it right up! Dr approved stuff!

Now...what is this stuff and where do you get it?? Sounds like a good salve to have in the medicine cabinet.

Paige its called prids drawing salve, and you can find it just about anywhere. last one i bought was a local grocery store, in there pharmacy area.

I have dealt with many a blister in my time. When I get one, I stick a disinfected pin through it and drain the liquid, leaving the skin which protects the tender underlayer. In time, the skin will peal off on it's own but by then the underlayer has had time to toughen up. In your case, with the skin having already come off, I would suggest an antibiotic creme and a bandage when you have to wear shoes. Let it have open air when you don't have to wear shoes. That raw area will toughen up in no time when exposed to the open air, you just don't want to get it dirty. I don't think I would put Prid on it due to the chemicals in it. Maybe Vasoline but not Prid.
