Other Parks / Re: New Park - American Heartland in NE Oklahoma

2B is a LOT of money for a attraction that is not a usual "destination" place. The question is will it be enough of a standalone draw to cover its expenses and infrastructure costs. Aside from the nearby lake and Tulsa an hour away, will it be a place people will want to return to time and again?. does it survive 3-5 years aftr opening.

I am a freak and I drive 3 hours one way several times a year to SDC.  Most people aren't that loyal.  This will not be a park you visit one day when going to the area. Maybe if you visit Tulsa.

The Amusement park industry is filled with "gonna be" projects that never go very far. Everything fits on paper and your imagination.. reality costs 10-20% more at least and 10-15% longer to do. I wish them luck, they will need it...

my two cents

Kevin

Don't forget the burgeoning metro of NWA that's projected to near 1 million in 20 years(currently 600k)

Now, if this was a Tribe and it had a casino attached to it, I'd be more inclined to believe that some of it sees daylight.

I would have shot for the US 69/I 40 area. Why, major roads centered between Dallas/OKC/Tulsa/River Valley/NWA

Pie in the sky.  For scaling up to this size it need to be closer to a major airport. TUL is 1 hr away and XNA is 1 1/2 hrs away.

That said, after having been to Puy du Fou in France and it's rather remote location, who knows? I have always thought a very similar park that developed major shows and attractions in and around American History could be successful.  I would love for Sight and Sound to develop a new theater based on US history stories similar to their biblical based.

Universal is being highly aggressive in Orlando. Epic Universe looks to be, well, epic.

Whats for sure is a 10 day New England foilage drive the last week of Sept/first week of Oct. Got the flight and rooms booked for that already.

Still on the Books, I have managed to pencil in Lake Compounce and a session with Bolder Dash, lol. Depending on the timings of the living history tour at the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, I may squeeze in Quassy and Wooden Warrior before heading  to Compounce as well.  None of the SIx Flags parks made the cut.

Intamin continues to hit it out of park it seems. Here's their new coaster at Park Astrix outside of Paris

I can see that in the SDC woods.

While it would be logistically tricky being in the center part of the park, I could see them doing a Mystery Mine clone or Baron 1898 type ride integrating land from the Train Station, Flooded Mine, and the Waterboggan Tower, its just a question of what else adjacent to the area would also be taken out, if so.

It would be nice if SDC would again invest in things like interactive theming an immersive pre-show elements with their new attractions. Its one thing I am still skeptical they will carry over with FITH 2.0.

Baron 1898: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L84Tlc235-g

I've been on Baron. It is short but sweet and the pre-show is nice. Efteling is an incredible park with immersive theming throughout. Go there if you can.

Here's a new B&M launched shuttle coaster opening in 2023 at Chessington in the UK. Interesting concept that I could see fitting in at SDC

Being in NWA, We never ever go to the park via Branson if we are just going to the park. Always via Kimberling C and B West. If they make it easier to get to B West, Folks will just go past the light and U turn.

Universal Announced a new park in Frisco Texas. It’s supposed to be smaller than their main parks and focused on kids/families.  I’m pretty excited about that being a half day drive away. Not much substance yet on what it will contain.

Not much in the way of thrill from the concept art outside a family coaster. Looks like a bunch of Dreamworks IP for the teeming.

It's an enhanced Legoland

I've been doing a lot less amusement parks lately as well, but I still try and hit them up when the opportunity is easy. I ended up at Six Flags America last year when I was doing a DC trip. Not to hard to get there since the metro from DC gets you close and then it's just a short Uber.

This year I am playing it by ear, but I want to see NYC/Coney Island, LA/SFMM, and maybe Pittsburg/Kennywood if I can swing it. I may try to drive up north and see that new park in Iowa if my car can stand the trip.

Funny you mentioned Kennywood. It was in my radar.

Thinking of doing a summer trip of Cleveland(Cedar Point) to Erie(Waldermeer) to Pittsburgh(Kennywood) to Columbus(Zoo)  back to Cleveland trip.

Also was possibly a Louisville/Cincy- centric tripnwith Holidayworld, Kings Island and Kentucky Kingdom as the parks.  Beech Bend could be part of that.

One of those and the trip in the fall would give me all 50 states in my 50th year, lol.

Last year I somehow managed to not hit a single park with a coaster. It was for trying, things never lined up.

I did see Crater Lake in the Snow, tidal pools, whales, reqlly big tree, Kodiak beara, orcas in the wild, a huge school of humpbacks, seals and eagles on ice bergs, glaciers galore, mountain goats on 9k ridges and yellow aspens galore in Colorado. It was a good year if travel as the wife and I transition to traveling without kids in tow.

This year will be different. I'm hitting some parks that I need to check off over the summer. I'm only working 4 days a week and 5 weeks of vacation as I hit my 50th year giving me very long weekends and time to take off and I got a ton of points.

Whats for sure is a 10 day New England foilage drive the last week of Sept/first week of Oct. Got the flight and rooms booked for that already.
