General Silver Dollar City Talk / Excited and planning our trip
« on: February 20, 2017, 08:34:01 AM »
We had season passes for several years while living in central Arkansas, but then we moved down to southwestern AR and it's a little farther and we haven't been in two years!
So we bought passes this year and talked our extended family into a trip because we have BaF passes. We will have my two-year-old nephew this time and I'm so excited to see him enjoy the park for the first time ever! Plus, our parents will be there and have offered to watch him if his parents want to do anything he can't do.
We just booked a beautiful cabin that will fit us all.
I'm so excited!

Branson Talk / Suggestions on places to stay
« on: February 15, 2017, 07:42:41 PM »
I'm not sure if this is where I should post this, but I'm looking for a place to stay when we come. My family is looking for a cabin-like place that can accommodate three adult couples. I've been searching online, but I wanted to ask this community if you have any tips for finding such a place for a reasonable price.

Branson Talk / President busts around Branson?
« on: April 19, 2014, 11:18:28 AM »
I searched and couldn't find anything that seemed to answer this. I always notice the president busts that are around Branson when we visit. Reagan and Kennedy and I think I've seen another one?

Does anyone know why they are there?

Random Talk / City baby announcement ideas
« on: March 04, 2014, 07:14:21 PM »
My friend just showed me this baby announcement and I thought it was adorable.

Since SDC is closer to our neck of the woods and we have been visiting there significantly more than Disney, and probably will continue to in the future, I was trying to think of a similar announcement idea relating to SDC for when I eventually have the need to announce a baby. Since I'm sort of a part of this little community, I thought I would ask your opinions and help.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Christmas presents from the city
« on: October 21, 2013, 12:39:31 PM »
We'll be visiting in December and I'm kinda interested in buying some presents then. I obviously can't afford to buy all my presents there. But some would be cool.

So what are some good present ideas from the city that aren't ridiculously priced. My dad really likes the Chow Chow and peanut brittle. I've already gotten him those for Father's Day, but I might repeat it because he loves them!

I just like going ahead and planning this stuff. I would be stalking the SDC website for ideas, but they don't have a lot of specific things on there.

Thanks!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Geocaching in the City
« on: October 05, 2013, 04:32:03 PM »
My husband and I have enjoyed geocaching for years. It is actually how he proposed to me.
I saw a post from a couple years on here where someone asked about geocaching in Branson. I know that there is a virtual cache in SDC, which I am now planning to try to find the next time I am there.
It's probably a really silly question, but is there any way that we could have actual geocaches in the city?
Is there anyone that is there more often than me that is interesting in doing more virtual caches? If I was there more often, I would love to do some virtual caches for people to find, but it looks like we won't make it back until December, and it'll only be for a day. Not very much time to make plans for virtual caches.
I would really enjoy looking for some, though!

We're coming back to SDC this weekend to celebrate our anniversary and get some more use out of our season passes! We already booked a room at HomeStay Inn!

I was hoping for some tips on how to do SDC cheaply. I tried looking through some old posts to see if there was a similar topic before. I know several people have talked about different things to do to make it cheaper, so if you can share and remind me, that would be great.
I guess I can generally figure out the common sense things, like packing snacks and stuff. But what are some cheaper places to eat and stuff?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Husband's first time!
« on: April 24, 2013, 12:07:50 PM »
I'm am completely surprising my husband with a birthday trip to SDC in 2 weeks. I'm going to pack all of his stuff, I'm paying for everything. We already have our season tickets.
We are going to meet a couple of our friends who will also be celebrating a birthday.

I have been to SDC most summers of my childhood and so have our friends. My husband and I both love rides, so we will definitely be wanting to ride the rides.
We are planning on driving up on Wednesday and hanging out, and then surprising him by just showing up there on Thursday. We are planning on taking it slow and being able to show him everything, so we are also going to go back on Friday and then head home.

I wanted to ask if anyone had any pointers. I've never been without my parents, so I'm not used to being able to make the decisions for the trip. We have our hotel booked. It includes a reportedly wonderful breakfast. We already have dinner planned for every night. We are planning on eating whatever we want for lunch in the park, and probably packing some snacks to munch on during the day. (I think about food a lot)

I have been worrying about packing my husband's bag for him, but he's a man, so it probably shouldn't be too hard.

Any pointers?
