Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2020 Project (Thread #2)
« on: April 02, 2020, 11:12:53 AM »
In Oklahoma (and doing the billion dollar driving forward program) we've had two contractors close down because of the virus (one being a general and one as a sub-contractor). ODOT has provided us with directive if the contractors chose to close down because of the virus. So right now in Oklahoma, it's being left up to each construction company if they are closing or not.

I talked with a President of a large contractor and he said in Colorado their jobs have been closed.

On the job sites we are doing our best to maintain the rules provided by the state. The companies have even expanded their safety protocol testing workers for fever multiple times daily, having separation requirements, going to online meetings, and limiting personnel in field offices. I know my employees are using their phone for communication with the contractors and keeping their distance. A lot more digital documents for material tickets, deliveries, etc.

I have no idea who Carole Baskin is so she's not involved in my disdain for Starbucks.

Go watch Tiger King on Netflix - you won't be disappointed. And yes, I think she killed her husband and fed him to the tigers.

I guess I don't let things I read on the internet affect me that much. As Sister Gabriel would say "that's their sin, not mine". If their product is good and their service is good, I will go to their company. I do look for things like "We support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior, etc." and given the choice I may go to one of those establishments over another, however I don't bash or hate on anyone just because Carole Baskin tells me to.

Anyhow, I'll get my lunch from Chick-fil-a, on my way to Hobby Lobby, listening to Toby Keith and the Dixie Chicks, all while drinking a Latte from Starbucks.

Life is too short! Take the trip, buy the shoes, eat the cake.

It's usually my daughter and I that go. When we go we have some several things we do each time. But I guess the top three for her would be:
1. Tater Twist
2. Candle Making
3. Outlaw Run

Random Talk / Re: Coronavirus
« on: March 16, 2020, 09:14:30 PM »
How do we know we havenít already had it? This yearís flu was horrible and unlike any Iíve seen before.  What if it was the coronavirus instead of the diagnoses of Influenza A or B? Unless they were specifically testing for COVID-19 theyíre not going to know the individual had it or not.

In other news, my school district shuts down after tomorrow for two weeks. Supposed to reopen on April 6

A month ago I felt really bad, tired, chest hurt, dizzy, (but no fever or cough) lasted about four days - had a blood test, flu test, chest x-ray, and EKG which all came back negative. I ended up diagnosing myself with altitude sickness from flying in an airplane. I guess with no cough or fever I didn't have the COVID-19 but my chest hurt for no apparent reason.

All Good Now.

That lift does look amazing, I sure hope it works that efficiently! Will be fun to overlook the ride as you ascend to the top too.

Also, the speed of the water in the videos from Silver Dollar City looks pretty exciting - no leisurely raft ride down the Mystic River.

Looks like all the shops are open this year on opening day.

Awesome! Well that might change things! So glad they decided to open the shops earlier this year!

I don't think we'll get down there until sometime in April. My family likes the shops just as much as the rides and they don't seem to have as much fun when most places are closed.

I concur on the Float Trip.  It was a fun ride and funny to see the different things as you floated along.  From the whirlpool, to the outhouse above you tipping over, it was a neat experience!

Those items were part of American Plunge for so many years until they decided to make the changes to the Ozark daredevils. AP was so awesome with the cave, whirlpool, tipping out house, etc.  - Just bring these things back and the AP would be so awesome.

One of my best memories from SDC was the dueling buckets water game. You would stand across from your opponent and throw bean bags at a target, if you hit it, it would dump a bucket of water on their head. My nephew and I would play it so much that we looked like we jumped in lake Silver.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Silver Dollar Membership

I did not get that offer and I am in the Tulsa area.  I have also not yet bought season passes.  I am debating on it or skipping a year.  I am leaning toward skipping a year since I waited so long and it appears preferred parking is sold out.

Here is the link to the offer

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Silver Dollar Membership
« on: January 07, 2020, 08:45:16 PM »
I received an email announcing a "Silver Dollar City Diamond Membership - for Tulsa Area only". I'm betting though there are other locations they are offering this as well.

The membership is $250 or $25/month and includes:
Unlimited Visits to SDC
Unlimited Visits to White Water
8 One Day Guest Vouchers
1 Free Showboat Cruise
10 Visits to Incredible Pizza Tulsa
1 Front of the line on Mystic River Falls
20% off select food and beverage at Silver Dollar City and White Water

The two park pass is $168 and the difference between this pass and the two park pass:
1 Free Showboat Cruise
10 Visits to Incredible Pizza Tulsa
1 Front of the line on Mystic River Falls
20% off select food and beverage at Silver Dollar City and White Water

So is the above worth the additional $82 to you? The cruise is around $57. If you go to Incredible Pizza the buffet ticket and $10 in game play is worth $20.99 itself. So had I not already purchased my season passes, I might really consider one of these passes instead.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2019 Daily Attendance

We went on Monday, December 30th. The budget was for 7,500 people but 13,172 showed up. From what I experienced, I can see how the budget affected food.

1. All Cinnamon Bread at the Mill was sold out by 6:00. They were making more as fast as they could and there was a line waiting.
2. When we got to the apple butter shop at 6:30, No apple turnovers were available there nor were they available at Eva and Delilah's.
3. The staff at Percey's was being very cautious and trying to stretch the cooked items as far as possible. I got a chicken bowl and the portions of rice, beans and chicken were so small they barely covered the bottom of the bowl. They filled the rest of my bowl with lettuce, cheese, etc. - so I guess you could say I had more of a salad than a burrito bowl.

We had a very enjoyable time, despite the budget being off and some of the food items we wanted being gone. I guess that gives us something to look forward to in March.

Basically some dirt, trees, and a small access roadway (hopefully the google image attached).

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Harvest Festival
« on: October 15, 2019, 12:03:43 PM »
From SDC Attractions: It probably felt that way because we changed our requirements for visiting craftsmen this year. New this season we allowed visiting artisans to participate even if they couldnít stay for the duration of the festival. This essentially meant we had all new craftsmen in each week  - which is quite a departure from the last few years.

From a Facebook post today regarding Pumpkin Nights returning for 2020.
