My parents were married in 76.  They picked up their free 14 season passes while at SDC at T'giving.  Just had to show a copy of their marriage license.  As has been stated, you just get the pass...no extras.

Had a great time at SDC this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Going all three days allowed us to do everything we wanted despite the large crowds.  The park stayed open an extra hour Friday the 27th (in addition to staying open later on Saturday), closing at 10 due to the good crowd.  Also on Friday all performances of "It's a Wonderful Life" were cancelled due to illness of several cast and crew members.  They had cancelled the final show on Thursday the 26th as well.  Was very crowded on Saturday, largest crowd I have ever seen at SDC and I have been caught in some big ones.  I saw some people get in line at noon when the park opened on Saturday for the 2pm Saloon Show.  Lines for the shows were long and formed very early.

Random Talk / Re: Winter Storm, December, 2013

Here in Mt. Vernon, Illinois (about 70 miles east of St. Louis) we have about a foot of snow on the ground and expecting another inch or so this afternoon before it finally quits.  This all started yesterday morning around ten and hasn't quit since.  Started out as sleet and freezing rain before changing to all snow.  It snowed a lot last night.  Going to start getting colder now with another chance of snow, sleet and freezing rain overnight Saturday into Sunday afternoon.  Can't believe this time last week I was in Branson enjoying some wonderful weather for T'giving.  My how things can change so quickly...it was almost 70 here Wednesday afternoon.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: SDC Christmas Ornament Check List
« on: December 03, 2013, 05:44:53 PM »
Went to pick up our ornaments last Thursday night and they would not give my wife one (she had one fewer trip than the rest of us this year) saying she only attended four events. I knew that wasn't right as they said Family Spring Break Days did not count.  I knew they did but could not convince the young man working the season pass booth of it.  We stopped by guest relations the next morning and got it worked out.  She received her ornament.  I wonder how many others have been denied ornaments because the folks in the season pass booth were not counting Spring Break?  Hopefully not any.

Branson Talk / Re: Shepherd of the Hills Play Closing
« on: October 15, 2013, 05:31:20 PM »
Driving back into town from SDC this past Saturday night it looked like things were really hopping at Shepherd of the Hills.  It was the largest crowd I had seen in a long, long time.  The parking lot was full, there were a bunch of trams running and a long line for dinner.  It reminded me of the glory days when large crowds were common but made me sad to think the play is going away.

We were at SDC this past weekend.  I asked the guy on the back of the tram Saturday as we were leaving how many they had that day, he told me 11,000 and they were expecting 12,000.  The Saturday morning rain may have kept a few people away.  He also told me they were expecting 9,000 Sunday.  Since Sanddune reported they had 10,000 it was indeed a good Sunday for them.

Was anyone at SDC yesterday during the power outage?  How was it handled by the park?

I think the ride op wanted everyone's undivided attention.  Thus, hold the train hostage for a bit.

Agreed Runner.  I started taking the survey and thought "is this thing ever going to end?".  Some of it seemed repetitive to me.  I finished it though but agree it should have been shorter.

Good review Hiker Dan.  I too got very frustrated with the PK operator who kept wanting to sing Happy Birthday every third or fourth train.  Unload, load and move the train out is what I say. Keep the line moving!

Also enjoyed your review Doug from Tulsa.  Sounds like you had a good time despite the rain.
