I wonder what the crowd will be like Friday and Saturday/Sunday?  If they do get 4-6" will they just shut the park down or keep it open?  Might be interesting to visit with 4-6" of snow.

Instead of tearing out old classic rides, do they not have enough land that they could add new coasters or rides beyond the current footprint of the park?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Time Traveler at night
November 16, 2018, 03:41:43 PM
So we rode the TT last night at around 7:30-7:45.  Not sure what the temp was but it was starting to get cold.  First of all, TT is really cool to ride at night.  Being that it was Christmas time, I think it would have made the ride even better if they had some sort of Christmas lights out on the ride somehow, but whatever.  We were in the 2nd to the last car and something was going on with the car in front of us (2nd from the front).  It appeared as if its magnetic brake control was either not working, or was not working the same as the rest of the cars and not normal.  I noticed it was spinning quite a bit faster than the rest of the cars.  Actually, I will go so far to say it appeared to be spinning about like the teacups would.  When we got to the dead stop at the first launch, that car continued to spin at a pretty fast pace as we were just sitting there.  The car we were in and none of the other cars did this.  I could hear the people commenting about how it was spinning fast.  Anyway, I am not sure if the cold affected it or what, but just something I noticed.

We arrived yesterday at about 3:30pm and stayed till close to 8pm.  All rides were walk on, including TT.  We watched the parade sitting on the new wall with the little tables on them over by the new restaurants.  There was very little crowd there and it was stress free.  When the parade ended, we headed over to the train and jumped in line just as they started letting people into the station for the next ride. They closed the gate at the group that was just ahead of us.  Once the train pulled in and everyone loaded, we ended up getting on that ride just fine but by this time the line behind us was pretty big.  After we got off the train we headed over to TT to ride it in the dark, which was cool.  Once again it was walk on. I had a couple of interesting observations about it that I will post in a separate thread.

I am still debating on if I should get six flags passes instead of SDC, or in addition to SDC

I  am planning on going out there tomorrow afternoon/evening. I would think it should be pretty light traffic, correct?

That seems light but then again, it was cold and last I checked most of the coasters appeared to be closed per the app.

So if that is the case, Hershend might not be off the hook on this deal.

Is that the spot where the walk way turns right then goes down the steps to the loading station currently?

This guy is standing about midway where you watch the plunge from the platform today, and the mill which was the entrance.   I have another old picture from the internet that shows the entrance to the old Float Trip.   The entrance is right behind the man sitting down.  Sorry about the quality of the picture,  but the answer to your question is no.  The loading today is on the other side of the mill in these pictures.

So in other words, this guy and the entrance to the old ride is basically the exit for the current ride

FYI I just checked their website and in the FAQ it still has the line about honoring pre 2012 mugs.

I have never even had them question it or try to charge me more than $1.  Last year, this year, last week, etc.

We have several of the $1 refill mugs so I do not think I will be buying this, unless they stop honoring the grandfathered mugs.

They have stopped honoring them.  I was told that this summer and actually shown the memo.

We used our Buzz Saw mugs just this past weekend several times, and used them a few weeks ago as well.

I think the question is how are they honoring them.  Are they totally doing away with the grandfathered in mugs and just doing the current year....or are they doing away with the $1.00, $1.50, etc, and just charging current refill price for these mugs?

They charged us $1

We have had season passes to Frontier City for several years and and usually had passes to that as well as SDC at the same time.  Right now we usually go up to SDC at least once a month and usually do 2 days when we are up there.  This year it seems like when we go up there were are only there maybe 2-3 hours and we are done.

I have not been back to FC in the last couple of years and now that they are part of Six Flags, I figured we could go to FC often as they are about the same distance as it is for us to go to SDC, plus hit St. Louis and Texas a few times during the year.

Looking on the FC site, it appears they are only selling the gold membership, but if you go thru the other parks you can get the higher levels if that is in fact worth messing with.  If I did it, I would probably also get the dining package as well, something I wish SDC offered
