Branson Talk / Oyo
« on: May 14, 2020, 09:07:33 PM »
For giggles I was searching hotels in Branson on Travelocity and noticed there are several that are now Oyo hotels, such as the Windmill for example.  I have been noticing in other parts of the country they seem to be converting a lot of lower end hotels to these.

Would I be correct in assuming that the trailblazer pass this year will not work on the new river ride?

« on: July 25, 2019, 02:20:45 PM »
We have season passes to SDC but this year I opted to not get the double park pass.  If we wanted to go to WW is there some sort of discounted day ticket for SDC pass holders?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Looks like rain tomorrow
« on: May 17, 2019, 09:44:31 PM »
It looks like it will rain/storm tomorrow afternoon up there.  I wonder if that will drive down traffic?  Or at least will drive it down in the afternoon.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / BBQ best bang for the buck
« on: May 11, 2019, 12:10:06 PM »
In all the years I have been going to SDC during the Blue Grass/BBQ festival we have never eaten any of it.  We have strolled thru the red/gold hall and checked it out but thats about it.  Since we will be there tomorrow what/where is the best bang for the buck for food at this deal?   We usually do not eat at the city very often but end up leaving early to mid afternoon when it starts getting busy if we get there pretty close to opening.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / I am a complete moron
« on: April 13, 2019, 03:59:45 PM »
So we got there at opening today and rode TT first.  After getting off the ride I discovered I no longer had my iPhone.  Crap.  At that moment I realized I left it in my shirt pocked and not in my pants pocked or in our back like normal. Completely forgot about it.  It must have fallen out during a loop and I didnt even notice.  I was the dummy today I normally make fun of as to how somebody could be so stupid as to lose their phone on a ride.  Reported it to the ride operator but of course they wont go looking until park closes.  The bad part is, rain is moving in and it is supposed to rain all night I think.  We were only here last night so now I will have to stay another night and go back tomorrow.  When we got to the hotel I logged into my icloud account to locate my phone and I can see where it is on the sat map but that shows the area before the ride was put in.  I set it to lost mode and a few minutes later received an email that it was found.  I assume that means maybe they found it because a message will pop up on the screen saying it is lost and if somebody finds it they can report it found on the device.  Never have used this feature before so just guessing.  Anyway, here is a screen shot.  Looks to me like this might be where the building is.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Trailer parking
« on: March 09, 2019, 05:40:55 PM »
I have to go to western Arkansas Thursday but am thinking about leaving a day early and stopping by the city for a little bit Wednesday.  I will be pulling a car trailer.  I have season preferred parking.  Is there a parking area for trailers or is this an added charge?

With SDC closed in January and February, is there anything to do in Branson if a person was in the area?  Any shows going on during the off season?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Time Traveler at night
« on: November 16, 2018, 03:41:43 PM »
So we rode the TT last night at around 7:30-7:45.  Not sure what the temp was but it was starting to get cold.  First of all, TT is really cool to ride at night.  Being that it was Christmas time, I think it would have made the ride even better if they had some sort of Christmas lights out on the ride somehow, but whatever.  We were in the 2nd to the last car and something was going on with the car in front of us (2nd from the front).  It appeared as if its magnetic brake control was either not working, or was not working the same as the rest of the cars and not normal.  I noticed it was spinning quite a bit faster than the rest of the cars.  Actually, I will go so far to say it appeared to be spinning about like the teacups would.  When we got to the dead stop at the first launch, that car continued to spin at a pretty fast pace as we were just sitting there.  The car we were in and none of the other cars did this.  I could hear the people commenting about how it was spinning fast.  Anyway, I am not sure if the cold affected it or what, but just something I noticed.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Train robbery
« on: June 29, 2018, 06:25:07 PM »
I don't recall seeing this mentioned here before but maybe it has and I just now thought of it.  Anyway, the last time I was at the city earlier in the month it appeared they are no longer using the shotgun for the robbery.  The conductor was using what appeared and sounded to me to be a cap gun.  The robbers appeared to have wooden guns in their holsters.  Is this some change to be more PC like everything else seems to be or something else?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / SDC/Whitewater trip
« on: June 05, 2018, 05:44:39 PM »
This is the first year we have had dual season passes so I have a room booked at the Classic Motor Inn for Saturday.  So how does it usually go as far as crowds at WW?  We have never been and not sure what to except or how to plan.  Here are my 4 scenarios I am imagining.

1. Arrive at SDC as close to opening Saturday morning like we normally do, get our rides in before the crowds get too bad, leave around noon-1pm then head to WW

2. Arrive at SDC Saturday later in the after afternoon after having lunch, say around 2-3, stay till closing, then go to WW Sunday when they open and leave around 2-3Pm to head home

3. Spend both days at WW

4. Arrive at opening at WW on Saturday, spend all day, then arrive at SDC at opening on Sunday and stay till 2-3pm.

So the big questions are, does WW get so busy you can enjoy yourself like SDC does?  In other words, would it be worth while to try option 1?  I assume WW is like SDC in that is would be busier Saturday than Sunday?
