Branson Talk / Baldknobbers move to new location.
« on: March 15, 2017, 06:57:16 AM »

This is the story the news media released.

Here are the detais to the story that wasnt in article.

The Baldknobbers will be performing at the old shangai acrobat theatre on 165 highway.. (for now anyway).

details the article left out is the reason Grandma is selling (or going to try to sell) the theatre is because the bank foreclosed on the property..
I dont know if the motel/restaraunt is affected by this foreclosure, I would guess, yes.   But nothing has been mentioned about the rest of the real estate
Local feeling are that this is a Political move between local officials and the theatre organizations.  Baldknobbers just got caught in the middle of it by circumstance..  But if the Bank foreclosed, they were obviously behind on payment..

Either way, will be a interesting move for them.. dealing with a new building, new management, getting situatedm used to new surroundings.  They will have to check in before they do something to building and so on

Branson Talk / Branson loses and Icon to the community.
« on: March 02, 2017, 09:35:05 AM »
Chisai Childs, a true founder to the Branson entertainment industry, passed away yestarday. I met her a couple of times at events.. Amazing lady..  Hard to believe 1 person, could make that much impact on a town.

I copied this from Bill Brook's FB page

""One Saturday afternoon in 1980 we showed up at the Grapevine Opry for rehearsal. Chisai Childs announced that she had sold the Opry theater in Grapevine TX and had bought a theater in a little town called Branson, MO. She also announced that ALL OF US were moving to Branson. Everybody but the Brooks Brothers Almost Famous Band made the move. Shoji Tabuchi, Doug Gabriel, The Masters Four (The Texans), The Grapevine Opry Kids (Texas Goldminers), and a bunch more. Little did we know that Chisai would single handedly change the face of Branson and it would ultimately become the Live Entertainment Capital of the World. She talked Stars into coming to Branson and stars were born out of that group who moved with her. Chisai was one of a kind. Full of surprises and totally non predictable. That is what made her "Chisai". She never got the credit she deserved. May she rest in peace.""

General Silver Dollar City Talk / BAF's ....
« on: March 01, 2017, 08:05:13 AM »
Shave, if you think this is inappropriate, feel free to delete.
Before the BAF's rules changed we used to talk about having them available., but that was when you gave them away, Now that the pass holder is attending with the BAF's, this should work better.  After all, The PTB want people in the park....
What I am proposing here is IF your going planning a trip, and have BAF's for the trip available.. Post here to see if anyone could use them accordingly.
I would think if someone was interested in them, they should PM the poster. Keep the conversation off this page.
I know every year I throw 12-15 of them away.. I try to give them to people in the parking lot at end of season, BUT people are so used to "scams" they look at you like your tricking them..

That all being said, I will be at the park Sunday, March 26th, probably will have a couple of BAF's that I wont need..

General Silver Dollar City Talk / New Survey today
« on: February 28, 2017, 08:30:11 AM »
Received new survey today, primarily questions about season passes.   Available discounts with passes, the benefits of passes.

also asked a few questions about parking, crowds, rides conditions, waiting in line and so on......

The big push, seemed to be to make you aware of benfits and have you buy a pass..   Odd to me, since i have had passes for years... ::)

Branson Talk / Classic Motor Inn 2017 417-334-6991 (talk to Katy, K.D.)
« on: February 26, 2017, 11:14:33 AM »
Time to start the new thread for 2017.

As most of you already know, we as members of SDCFans,  get a Very nice discounted room rate at Classic Motor Inn. They are located on Shepherd Of The Hills Expressway, typically about a 10 minute drive from SDC.  Our nightly rate is only 40 + tax, with 2 exceptions.
#1 There are no discounted rooms during Car Show Weekend (2nd week in August).
#2 During the off season Jan1 - mid march the rate is 35.00 + tax.
If you are a new member and have any questions about Classic, please post them here. Several of us stay here off and on all year around, last year "we" (members), stayed over 400 nights at this motel.
Classic is locally owned, the owners live on site as well as the Manager. That way they can take care of any "needs" you may have immediately.

most rooms have pillow top mattress,
some rooms have flat screen TV
Wi-Fi to all rooms
Fridge in all rooms,
Microwave in all rooms,
Coffee Pots are available upon request,
They do have pet rooms, and welcome them
Cont. Breakfast. including, Biscuits and Gravey, French Toast,  Donuts, Toast, Waffles, Cereal, Milk, Juice, Fruit Cocktail. Now keep in mind, this is not a Buffet from Golden Corral..  But it is a good way to start your day, and is included with your room.
Ice machine for your room on premises,
Nice outdoor swimming pool,
Lots of parking available, and room for small trailers out back.
Every night they make Fresh Popcorn and Chocolate Chip Cookies for customers

Overall this is a great deal for all of us, and as I stated earlier several of us stay here throughout the year, and have stayed here for at least 3 years, some of us up to 5 years or more..

Give K.D. a call. She will appreciate it, and they will all take care of you. One thing when making your reservations, make sure you tell them you are a member of SDCFans. So they know to extend the 40.00 rate to you. You must call. Cant do reservations on the website, computer, or other websites..

Questions? post them, or PM me..

Thanks, and enjoy your stay this year.
