Quote from: BackInTime on June 05, 2026, 07:52:59 PMWe're getting off-thread here, but the fact SDC has been voted the #1 theme park in the U.S. for five years running seems to signal an obvious correlation with the most recent additions and the $500M investment plans over the next 10 years. The fact that SDC has seemingly played second fiddle to DW throughout this millennium has always baffled and irritated me. It's nowhere near the total park experience SDC offers IMHO.

Back to the topic at hand, what is the degree of confidence that the new coaster will expand into both cleared areas beyond PK? Additionally, is it totally out of bounds to consider the possibility of the layout extending all the way to the cleared areas west and north of OR? That would be an absolutely massive layout if the latter were the case. Just seems odd that they would clear that much land beyond the need for service access, if they didn't intend to use it as part of this newest addition. Not speculating, or making any predictions, just wondering what others thoughts and opinions are on the final scale of this addition.

Just for the record.  The best theme park in the USA is just one select poll.  We went to Dollywood last October and they were advertising themselves as the best theme park in America too, according to another poll.  In case you were wondering, we thought Dollywood was much better than SDC

I think that's just what was required for how hilly it is, google earth has it at 25m elevation change over just 85 meters from the edge. If it did go to the furthest clearing it would be over 600m, which only pure out and back coasters like Mamba seem to do, with how many footers are already near the station it would be pretty crazy to also go out that far, but there isn't really anyway to get the coaster there with the current tree clearing and road.

There will be a lot of National exposure next year with ACE Coaster Con being hosted at the park.  That alone will spread word of mouth for the new ride and help with the different "best of" awards

The park sent out save-the-dates to Missouri media, marking August 14 as a day for "record-breaking news." The accompanying tagline reads, "Legends are stories waiting to be mined."

Something, or rather someone in this forum leads me to believe that this won't be the coaster announcement.

Of course folks can laugh it off but this is the third such claim with a similar story I've seen in the past few months. https://coasterforce.com/forums/threads/silver-dollar-city-unknown-unknown-2027.47698/post-1194442

The other was from the relative of a construction worker and from a park employee who has heard things from higher ups they usually don't get access to. They wouldn't give names and exact details as someone in the past got fired on the spot and faced legal woes for leaking something like this. They are being very strict on NDA's with everyone involved.

A very prominent employee did reiterate the "first" and emphasized "something big" in regards to it in a video posted back in the winter. I've been saying the footer style resembles elements of DC Rivals layout. Even if it's not that big, I feel this will easily be on the same scale as Helix or Blue Fire.

I still logically think it's gonna be a big Stryker model but we shall see. I feel they could theme that one better. Either way you can expect it to be the main showpiece for ACE CoasterCon next year. SDC will throw thoosies a bone with this one.

Wasn't Time Traveler announced in August?

I imagine the park will do a two-part announcement. August 14 will announce the ride for the media and create as much national buzz as possible. September 19, Fan Fest, will be an interactive event created for fans and reveal additional details.

Why wouldn't the park announce it all in one go? My guess is that track will begin being placed in the middle of August, and once that starts happening in view of the guests, the park will want to get something out there.

A two-part announcement allows the park to cater to the media and fans separately, providing an overall better experience for everyone.

Yes that's a fair assessment, it was announced on Aug 16th 2017. Myself and the owner of this website attended the media event and I got pictures from the construction tour. Time Traveler was about 2/3 complete by then. They also do a bit of hyping for Coaster Christmas as they did tours then too. I feel this years event will be well booked up.

Unless they diverge from that routine this year, they usually time the new ride announcements with that week in August because of it being National Rollercoaster Day.

All I know is that a certain someone in the know, earlier in this thread, stated it would be announced in September.

I imagine there's more than one person in the know.  ;)

I'm not sure what a "record breaking announcement" that has a theme similar to the tease from last year's FanFest (stock shares given to attendees) as well as the general theme they've been setting (the marvel cave mining stock season cups) could even be if it isn't related to the current construction.

It could be a teaser to another announcement?  Who knows. I trust Swoosh. He's been right for many years on here.

The park's social media IS kind of notorious for faking people out, but they've been laying groundwork for this announcement longer than I've seen them tease anything else. If we see teasers start to appear mid/late July, I think it's safe to assume we're getting the attraction announcement in August.

sdcfan88

What's interesting is I haven't seen much in the way of fake outs with the teasers or faux trademarks like they did with Lost Caverns or Wild Mountain. I do think since they already did merch that Marvel Cave Mining Co. is a real deal possibly for a new themed area consisting of PK, AP, Project '27 and eventually '29.
