Casinos are over saturated and not unique anymore. A lot are losing money rapidly. Hope it fails also.
Yes and no, casinos fail because better markets are opening up. New casinos are being built all the time and they are nicer and nicer, offering more amenities. I never gamble, I go to catch a show, usually once or twice a year at the Hard Rock in Tulsa. I can show you plenty on new, better casino developments going up that will surely hurts others. I was impressed with Sandia in Albuquerque, something like that just off Table Rock in Boone County would be fine with me.
I do not like the fact that two outlets have a monopoly over "gaming" in Arkansas. I don't like how they backdoored in electronic gaming under the guise of "games of skill." I want there to be open markets allowing for the best of the best to be possible. I particularly want to see full blown gaming rooms tied to historical restoration in Hot Springs. I hate the fact that money walks out of this state (ARK)in every direction due to the monopoly the two tracks have. It's no different than once being surrounded by lottery states or being in a dry county surrounded by wet ones. I don't like this bill as written due to it's benefit of one group but it may be a way to force the state into a better, more open market approach. I like the concept of zones with a set amount of gaming venues and allowing for proposals to be introduced and licenses awarded to the best ones.
I don't give a rat's butt about how Missouri does it or doesn't fit l. If it improves the economy on our side of the line that has allowed folks to flow to Branson with little benefit for a long time. I want Arkansas to recapture the lost revenue that slips out to the casinos in Oklahoma, LA, Missouri, and MS and generate new with folks partaking from out of state. We need revenue to 4 lane divide 412 across Arkansas. Fund a new gaming management program at the community college in Harrison and so on. There is enough separation from Branson Proper and the Arkansas side of the line there shouldn't be any problem.
