Saw the first ads for Worldfest on local TV here in NW AR today. It's about time for cranking things up a bit on park...
"Howdy there folks! My name is Junior Dugan, and I'll be drivin' your diving bell!"

My crew can hardly wait for World Fest.  We just got done experiencing Festival of Nations at Dollywood this past weekend, so we are ready to "compare" the two festivals.  Sure hope something like Mother Africa comes to SDC soon, that was amazing

I'm going to try to get my DW trip report done this week.  Basically it was a African themed Cirque du Soleil type show.  Lots of dancing and acrobatics.  It was just a great show.

I used to really enjoy World Fest but I am very tired of some of the performers that seem to be there almost every year.  Looking forward to checking out the new acts this Saturday.

I'm going to be there this weekend. Thankfully the forecast has improved. Its been two years since I've been to SDC. Can't wait!

Went this morning. Saw the Celebrate America kickoff before the park opened. Saw the new Benise Flamenco guitar show (guy is not from Spain) but he plays well and has won a Grammy. Really enjoyed the outdoor Spanish theater set up in the Red Gold courtyard.

Only the harpist and her husband are from outside the USA. The rest of the performers in this year's World Fest live in America

Immigrant fest 2014?

Eh, they (PTB) do what they have to, to make sure there is enough budget for acts for the entire season.  I'm sure the acts performing at YCW were not cheap as there were some BIG names there.

They may as well tag Worldfest as "Made in America".  After all, this is an all-American year, right?

Speaking of "Made in America" -- the Showmen performed that song at the Opening Ceremonies of World Fest on Saturday,,,

I was a little surprised by Benise. I enjoyed it but I could tell there were many people who either did not like this show or it was something they didn't want to see. I can recall 3 groups passing near me who left during the show. In some respects the level of family freindlyness is perhaps a bit lower than you would expect at sdc. The flamenco dancers and the male dancers, while performing traditional Spanish dances, are not what I expected at this show. The music is excellent but it seemed a bit like a spanish version of elvis or something. The other show I took in this weekend was Island fire. That was a great show and I was glad I got seats in the second row.
