Already an impressive collection of Art.  This will put the Ozarks on the map for true culture and art.   Love it!

Check out the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art Website. You will be impressed. Museum opens 11/11/11! (Just go to your search engine and type in "Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art" and it will pop right up.) I'm very excited because I live only 10 miles away from this wonderful place. I have gone to the construction site observation deck several times to watch the progress of this project. It is IMPRESSIVE. Located next to Crystal Bridges is the Compton Gardens acreage. Beautiful as well. (Neil Compton is the fellow who worked so hard to save the Buffalo River in Arkansas from being destroyed by a Corps of Engineers project. The Buffalo River is the FIRST national river park.)

I cannot wait to see this collection. As an artist, and a former art teacher, I will be making a trip to this museum this coming Spring!

I just read that if you pledge at the Associate level ($250), you will gain access to museums across the country.   A nice benefit and a great way to support the museum.

Bentonville has been doing upgrades to city facilities to prep for this great museum. Roads widened and repaved, fancy light poles along main avenues, fancy electronic turn signals at intersections (Poles look like cast iron) the downtown square is fantastic, with a refurbished Wal-Mart visitors center with a museum and cafe and gift shop, Other attractions like Compton Gardens, The Museum of Native American History, Peel Mansion and Gardens, all spruced up and looking good. Bentonville is a nice little town, doing well these days because of the huge influx of money from Wal-Mart people and the vendors who are required by Wal-mart to have offices in the Bentonville/Rogers area to service them. That means lots and lots of highly paid executives and many, many people working for them. There is a subdivision between Bentonville and Centerton that features homes starting at $1 million each. I must admit, the harsh economy has knocked the price down on some of those mansions to about $850,000 to $900,000. If I had the cash, I'd probably buy a home there.  ;)

There's no doubt that the economy in NWA was hit hard but it's better here than most other areas. There are signs of life with the Cabela's announcement and some other things. Some developements at places that got stopped in its tracks is taking place.

I have a childhood friend thats in charge of the Bentonville Parks and Recs. Dept. Flatlander like myself that came to school and stayed. I'll tell him that you approve ;D

The University is growing it's enrollment. They'll be more Texas kids coming in as freshmen than in state kids this year.

A funny story about Washington Co. They have a surplus of over 15 million and there's talk of reducing the millage. Now that's a rare thing these days.

It's open and it is a sight. You'll need to call and reserve a time to go.

I understand tickets to the museum are booked up through the second week of January...great score! Enjoy the museum, and please post a report with photos...I live only 12 miles away from the place and have not been able to get in for a visit yet myself!
