Wilson Creek 150th Anniversary Re-enactment
« on: June 01, 2011, 07:42:06 PM »
Anyone planning on going to the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Wilson Creek in Springfield?  I'm seriously thinking about it.  It's August 12th - 14th.  If you're interested here's the website: http://www.wilsonscreek150.com/.

Wilson's Creek now have a self-tour with commentary on your cell phone.  There's a toll free number to call with specific numbers for the 12 stops.
More details in this article from the Springfield News Leader.

It is on my bucket list to be in a civil war reenactment, but being that it can get pretty costly, I have yet to venture into that yet (especialy for only one event) I will more than likely need to find someone to let me borrow the items for the event (whenever I do find one to participate in)

Go to the SDC Website and check out the current Pathfinder. It has an announcement about how a reinactor group will be at the park for two days in August prior to the Wilson's Creek Reinactment event. Then, the group will participate in the event at Wilson's Creek near Springfield. Sounds like a lot of fun for Civil War buffs. I do remember during my employment a group of reinactors set up a camp at SDC for several weeks one summer about 1979 or 1980. I had a chance to visit with those guys back then, they were interesting, very devoted to it.
