House in the Ozarks
« on: January 30, 2011, 09:00:20 AM »
Coming to the Ozarks just got a little easier for my family.   I just closed on a little house in Crane Mo on Friday.  Spent the weekend cleaning and painting the inside.  I will be back over 3 more times before Opening day at SDC.  I hope I can get it ready by then so I do not have to work on it during the season.  Crane is about a 30 mile drive to SDC.  It has a population of about 1400 and has 9 Antique/Flee markets.  I truely am in heaven.

Wish you well with the new  house. Being that close to Branson and SDC might be a bit dangerous for you, huh?  ;)

Just a weekend home.   I had nbeen looking for a lot to park my small camper on but finding a lot with water and sewer has not been easy.  So I found a house on 2 lots that was listed for 17500.  I gave them a low ball offer about 6 months ago of $5000 and they said no.  So I waited.  Then the lowered the prive to $9900.  I again offered 5 and then said 7.  I eneded up getting it for $6000 and they gave me 300 back at closing to update the plumbing.   So I sold my camper for $4000 and pulled $2000 from savings and now I am the proud owner of a 800 sq ft tiny house on the side of a hill.  I think I am going to put half logs on it so it looks like a cabin.

Congratulations Oklasdcfan!  I have lived in the Crane vicinity almost all my life, and graduated from Crane HS.  A small farming town that is nestled down in a valley, and yes has several antique/flea markets.  The best of luck and hope you enjoy your second home.

Go ahead, do all the work, get the place fixed up...then give us your address! We'll look for the key under the welcome mat and we promise to sweep the floor (but not restock the 'fridge) before we leave!  ;D

Nice! Our route to SDC always takes us through Crane. They have a nice park there with a big  creek and an old train Caboose that my parents always stopped at when I was young.
