Well?   who's back to work?

Have had a full week so far. :)
So glad I am not the band director at any of your school district's I would be going insane trying to figure out how I am going to get the band ready before music contests next month.

Apparently there is possible legislation to forgive days during the "state of emergency".  We'll have to wait and see if that occurs.

Do your districts hold the certified staff to work 180 days even when days are forgiven?  Do they make you stay and attend two or three days or professional development meetings/workshops beyond the students' school year?  In the past, forgiven days have been just that, but some are proposing that the teacher contract cannot be altered in such a way.

Right now we've just added 4 days on to the end (the other was a built-in day).   We only have one additional workday after the kids are done at the end of the year, but let's be honest - most of us teachers would be there anyway to close up things for the summer so requiring us to be there isn't too much of a stretch anywhoo.

no i'm sure thats right swoosh, I would think it might tkae a day or even 2, in order to get things wrapped up for "summer".,,,,  BUT oh man! what a day for you all!!

<-----Day 12 on Friday!!!  And we don't have to make this one up, so our last day is still June 3, which is a Friday.

We should be back in class on Monday, which (ironically) is a half-day for students.  Then Friday is a field trip to the not so Fantastic Caverns.

I'm sidetracking a little, but I've never been to Fantastic Caverns.  It's not that great?  I was wondering about going this summer.  My older daughter loves caves, but I may have to skip out for a couple of years while our youngest gets a little older.  My husband could take the older daughter.  I took the youngest into Cave of the Winds last year in Colorado Springs, but I used a baby carrier.  There's no way she's fitting in there now.  And I can't see me holding her the entire time, so this cave seemed like an option.  But it's not that great?

Ugh, I know what you're saying.  MSHSAA districts for speech is the first weekend in March.  We had to cancel one tournament, but we're going to Joplin's tournament today.  We have special permission to attend.  I'm only going with about half of the students who signed up to go, though.  It's frustrating because February usually preps the kids pretty well for districts.  Here's hoping we don't miss the last two regular season tournaments!

stacey, good luck with the tourneys,

here is website and rates to the caverns:

I see they are now doing a "season pass" for a 5.00 upgrade, Your close enough to maybe take advantage of that.  The 1 trip through is a little expensive i think, BUT if you could go a couple of times,....  maybe........

We go every year, but it wasn't even that impressed with the first visit.  The regular admission price is ridiculously high - something like $16 for an adult, and the tour is not even very long.  After going every year, I know I could conduct a better tour than most of the employees.

its worse than that now, admission is up to 22.50 for adult, 14.50 for kids..!!! I will probably get passes for the year and go 2 or 3 times. I drive right by there coming and going to SDC!

I still recommend Talking Rocks as one of the prettiest caves, though there are steps.  When going to FC, we always take the little nature trail for some great pictures.

I know we got of track here..  sorry about that everyone... I will check out he trail when we get there... ;D

We're taking the next two days off from school (Saturday and Sunday).  Hopefully, they won't count against us.

I'm going to school today!  Yay!

Junior

After our almost record breaking snow in NW Arkansas last week it is now melting away with temperatures in the 40s-60s predicted this week. Thank goodness. I've seen enough snow this winter.  :)
