All right.  Who will be the first to have a Snow Day this year?
I think I have a good chance for one tomorrow.

A friend in KC had one today, but we are prepared for one tomorrow! Kids were actually not too bad despite the thought of being off tomorrow. We are a suburban school that spans into some pretty windy, hilly rural areas on the outer edge near all the wineries.

Ooh!  ooh!  I win!

I had a half day today and I'm out tomorrow!

Of course, now Swoosh will be out of school four days before me, or something.

rubedugans

It is a total of 2 so far this school year for us...

Swoosh

I finally got the call at 5:30am this morning that we were not having school today due to snow... one of the last ones in the area to call off.  Not sure why we waited so long when even the "bigger schools" had already called off and most of the bigger school's bus routes are all in town (whereas our's are backroads and gravel).

This is our 1st snow day of the year.  We had a 1HR delay back befroe Christmas.

I was in junior high in NW Arkansas and it didnt take anything for school to be called there because some of the buses went way, way back into the boonies. We're talking little country gravel roads that was just wide enough for a bus! If those roads iced over, even just a little bit, there was no way you could get them buses outta there. I am from and have lived in Kansas City most of my life and when school would be called for an inch or so of snow down there my mother would tell me. I'd look out the window and be like "Uhhh.....you're kiddin' right?" :o   LOL!

Needless to say, sometimes we tipped or maxed the snow day limits!

Hmmm.... schools are already calling off for tomorrow in the area... I wonder if we'll get another Snow Day tomorrow?  ???

History Buff

Today and tomorrow for us, though it looks like roads are fine.  They're claiming the temperature is too low.

I'm out today (Wednesday).  I'm starting to get nervous about make-up days.  At this rate, Swoosh will be out a week before I am...

rubedugans

back to school....3 neighboring districts were out due to blowing snow, and wind chill.

Swoosh

Proud to say I was 1 of 5 schools in Northeast Missouri in session today -- that area includes all the way over to Princeton down to Fayette over to the River (along I-70) and back up again.  Yeah we are TOUGH at our school district.... and we didn't even do the "girly thing" of "Hard Surfaces Only" -- because we ain't got none!  ;D

Ozark Outlaw

Teachers are so fortunate! Working in emergencies services, I get the joy of going in regardless of sun, rain, snow, ice, or hail.

Although, I still think teachers have the tougher job! :P

rubedugans

Similarities Ozark are that neither emergencies services nor teachers know what they are walking into on any given day.

Swoosh

Pretty funny situation up here.
Some schools were trying to use today as a "make-up day" for one of the snow days they had this week... well those schools are all out today on yet another snow day.

Having a snow day on a make-up day for a snow day is just funny to say.

Anyone ready for Wed-Thurs? They are calling for 4" here in StL. I really don't want a 3 day week, I'd like to still get out in May!
