SDC Fantasies
« on: February 17, 2008, 02:03:19 PM »
I've always wanted to ride the sphere thing around the Wildfire track.

I'd like to see Fire in the Hole with the lights on.

I'd like to spend the night in Marvel Cave.

Does anyone else have any "fantasies" (Keep 'em clean.) that involve SDC?

Whenever I was younger I always dreamed of living at the park and going to school at the school and church at the church, and then I could ride the rides in my spare time.

I want to get married in the Cathedral Room of Marvel Cave.

An overnight stay in Marvel Cave would be AWESOME!

I wish that there were more opportunities to ride he coasters in the dark.  I know that SDC would steal the profits from CC if they ever stayed open late. . . but it would be cool if I could ride when it was warm and dark.

How about watching (or riding) the hot air balloons in the Cathedral Room?

^^ You know, I missed seeing the balloons in the Cathedral Room for July 4th in the mid-90's by ONE day. :(

Another fantasy of mine is to see face characters of Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, and Becky Thatcher in a refurbished Tom Sawyer Landing. I'd also love to see a Mark Twain impersonator doing some sort of show (similar to what they have at the Mark Twain cave in Hannibal).

And as a part of that fantasy, I would totally love to portray Becky Thatcher... :D

I really want them to bring back a lot of the old characters that used to roam the parks, complete with their shows. For example, Geyser Gulch was supposed to have a full cast of characters playing in shows and roaming around the area, but alas, the budget was cut.

Actually BEING one of the characters for a day would be fun.  A friend of mine and I once instigated an impromptu Christmas show on an empty stage behind the gazebo.  We even pulled people out of the audience to sing carols with us, and then commenced to tell them they were on Candid Camera.  OK, so we were naughty, but we didn't get caught.

We also like to start the carolling on the rides:
On Fire-in-the-Hole, we like to sing "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire", and for some reason "Rudolph" is always the one we sing on ThuNderaTion.  Wildfire always hears our "12 Days of Christmas".  It's always better when we can get the whole ride to sing along!  Ocassionally we'll even circle back to ride something for a second time and catch the employees trying to get a song going.  Are we the ones who started the sing-along train rides?

People do look at us funny.  Once, we even got a "three idiots singing" during our "12 Days" rendition (He was joking.).

Ever wanted to get the boat to completely flip over and land upright on the Waterboggan?

^Yes!! I've always thought that would be so awesome! I do get kind of scared when I go on that ride that our boat is going to fly right off the track though.

Has anyone besides me ever dreamed of living in the city? I used to dream of that all the time.

I've slept over on a stage or two in the past after working late. Trust me, its wierd. Not only does the energy and emotion from all day linger, making it hard to sleep, but the place is over run with skunks! ;D

I once stayed overnight at the Henry Doorly Zoo with a church group, getting a night tour of parts of the zoo, and I think it was one of the coolest experiences ever.

An overnight group event at SDC would be SOOOOO cool. Ride rides at night, have the park all to yourself. Gosh, how cool would that be? Maybe camp-out in tents in Main Street or over in the Homestead area... :D
