I just saw a promo for a television special for Dollywoods 25th anniversary airing July 3rd.  It was filmed at the park....looks like a pretty big production.  Kenny Rogers among others appeared.  Guess Dolly's name can still get people to stand up and take notice.  Way to steal SDC's thunder Dolly.

It looks like it will be good....looking forward to it.

The special is on the Hallmark channel.  It also features a duet: Dolly and Miley Cyrus singing "Jolene".

I saw the same duet "teaser" on the news the other morning. She talked of the park as an investment etc. and never once mentioned that it was formerly an SDC, nor did she mention HFEC in the interview that I noticed.

She's smart not to do so too. Revealing that to the general public would just confuse them.   Also, I've always thought of DW as her park.  To the unassuming public that would just be weird...like she's just a "puppet" for HFE.   Smart business decision on her part.

I have set my DVR for this...  Can't wait to see it.   I wish the SDC one was on TV.

I just finished watching the show.  Was more about Dolly Parton's career than about Dollywood.  Really didn't get to see that much of the park.  But from seeing the scene from one of the major shows at DW, I know that the Opera House productions at SDC are much better.

Not really what I expected..  I think this could have been a better program.  And OMG..  What has Kenny Rogers done to his face....  It does not even move when he sings....  I'm just saying....

I agree; I think it could have been better.  I would've liked to have seen more of the park.  How many songs do you really need to sing with Billy Ray and Miley?
