I received an update this afternoon about Dollywood's "Winter Happenings". It told about the changes/ updates to Red's Diner, and the most interesting part was this:

Shopping Online
Dollywood may be closed for the season, but you can still purchase some of your favorite items at http://www.DollywoodMerchandise.com
If you've not visited the site yet, we invite you to take a look and enjoy a virtual shopping experience that includes selected Dollywood items.
Shop a variety of apparel items, crafts, food, Dolly's music and more. And if you don't find what you want, you can drop us a message about items you'd like to see offered on the site.
So come on over for a visit at http://www.DollywoodMerchandise.com, where the shopping is easy and convenient!

If you look, aside from CD's, clothing etc, they have applebutter, taffy (apparently made at DW) ciders -the same variety @ SDC just different labels.

Wouldn't this be one of the smartest things SDC did to promote the economy in the off season? It would allow them to employ a few more people over the winter months, and also bring in money for the park-a win-win! I wonder when they will get on board? I would buy stuff, heck I think I might splurge and buy some Taffy from DW!

I tend to agree with you, except; you lose the exclusivity of having acquired SDC merchandise in only one way-by actually going there. What I mean by this is, if someone sees me wearing a SDC shirt or drinking out of a coffee mug then they know I've been there (or to a second hand store). May seem silly, but it's something I've always cherished about my SDC memorabilia. It irritates me to see someone wearing a t shirt that says, Destin, for instance only to find they just ordered online and have never been there. Maybe I'm alone in my thinking here, but I kind of thought that's why they hadn't opened up an online store as of yet.

^^^ That's a good point. It's kinda like back in the day when you went to a huge concert like Van Halen or something and bought a shirt AT the concert. When you see someone wearing the same shirt but they bought it way later at a store, it kinda took the edge off.

"Whoa! Cool shirt! Did you go to Van Halen?! I bet it was awesome!"
"Um, no....I bought it at K-Mart."

:D :D :D :D :D

But....it would allow you to pick up most wanted items while the park was closed. Real head scratcher, this one!

I see the paradox here. I would love to have some of the items in the off season, but I can understand the exclusivity of the items. I do like however how one of the HFEC parks offers an online store, and others do not. I would have thought they would have all capitalized on it.

Eh, if SDC had a store I wouldn't use it. My trips to SDC are so sacred because I get one chance a year to take treasures home from the city! The candy is only good if you buy it in Brown's!
