We must all have seen this at the same time.  I thought about the pizza place, too.  And, something w/o cheese that I could eat there - garlic knots.  No lactose (dairy) for me = sadness.

Makes me wonder. How well does SDC do at meeting dietary needs? I've never paid any attention. Do they do a good job at feeding our vegan, gluten free, lactose free, etc. friends?

The station kind of looks like the shape of a wild west town. I'm thinking this will fit well with "the outlaw" title.

Well this ride appares to be going up relatively quick for a 2013 opening date. I hope that means there will be a lot of attention to theme elements which will help make this ride/area another SDC staple.

That said, I have two initial complaints about this development:

  • I don't appreciate the encroachment from management on the train ride territory. I wish they would attempt to keep the train ride a journey though the backwoods instead of a parade of park attractions with a show at the end.  Hopefully there are some plans for a new route which will allow for both the backwoods element and the current parade. (I understand that the "parade of park attractions" is important for marketing)

  • I would like to see more than just two rides (barn swing and "the bull") packed in this farm corner of the park.  yes, there will be extra shops and all, but I would like to see some new craftsmen and a new show venue brought into this area too.

Still, I'm very excited for the addition and I hope for great things!

back in 1999 right after the ride opened a man fell and injured himself .

It will be interesting to see what ultimately caused this recent death? Negligence or a design flaw?  My bet would be a little of both.

as long as they never remove the five and dime store downtown I'll be a happy camper!  :)

Hindsight 20/20

The ride operators are probably all minor kids anyway...

What is that supposed to mean?  ??? Are you implying that if the operators had been older then the death would be more acceptable? I do not know if you are aware of this or not but, one can be incompetent at any age. Incompetency does not discriminate.

Regardless of the age or circumstance, our thoughts go out to all those affected by this tragedy especially to the family and friends who lost a loved one.

Here is a side-by-side view of the two control panels. Enjoy!

When I was a kid, on a cold day I rode the lost river 21 times.  :-\ I loved that ride haha. If I had to choose today I would pick barn swing  I think it's my new fav.

Easy, I'll post that for you later tonight. Unless someone beats me to it  ;)

I believe the ride entrance is further up the track. What you have looks like the splash down area

QuoteI felt sick when I first saw the GE from the road.

I talked with one of the designers several years back and that is the way they wanted it.  They felt if you could see the rides it would help draw you in.  I am a fan of seeing Thunderation, it's not in your face and you have to almost be peeking to find it.

Well that bummed me out... I guess I should be happy they didn't make it completely visible. I sure hope ideas like these will stop. IMO silver dollar city needs to focus more on being a theme park not an amusement park. I would hate for SDC to basically lose their theme like WOF did.

As Junior would say: "Not in Mary's time!"

It pains me to think of the location of the Grand Exposition because the rides are viewable from the roadway...especially in winter months...

I agree with you Junior! I felt sick when I first saw the GE from the road. Since then I have accepted it.  However, I hope the GE will be the last time they make this mistake.  :'(

Has anyone tried contacting SDC about these theme issues? Be interesting to see what they say or do about it.

Looks like they removed "A LOT" of the ride.  :'( I can't tell what the original route looked like.

If only that silly cave wouldn't have established itself in the middle of the Ozark hills so many years ago! :D

I know, how about a shot tower shooting out from the cave's cathedral room?!  ;D
