Random Talk / Re: What to do what to do

We had fun we got to Branson Friday the 10th drove around checked out Branson and ate at Danna's untill time to check into the Best Western Inn and Conference center.  After we checked in we stayed around the hotel went swimming and then got ready for dinner.  Found a walmart in Branson West.  I so needed some sweet tea for our room.  Stopped in to eat at Pizza Hut, even though we said we would only eat at places we had never been.

Got up early Saturday had breakfast at the hotel because BWI has a great breakfast bar.  Were gonna ride the shuttle to SDC but changed our minds and drove at the last minute.  Spent the day till about four at SDC.  Enjoyed the Sons of SDC, a cowboy singing the Brady Bunch pretty darn funny lol.  Then went over and seen the first showing of Heading West for the season!  Oh my gosh I loved that.  Munched on a pizza stick and had our mugs refilled and Road the Train.  After the train we had a sausage sandwich and Calico Potatoes.  I enjoyed myself looking around and taking pictures.  We wanted to stay all day, but I was getting pretty tired.  So we stopped on the way out got a t-shirt and a deck of cards and the Beverly Hillbilly DVD.  My legs weren't used to the hills and knew I was going to be pretty sore.  We went back to the hotel and swam and than ran to get Tacos for dinner.  Oh and I loved the decorations the scarecrows and pumpkins for the harvest festival.

We had two day silver dollar city tickets but decided one day was enough on our legs.  And since we were only in Branson till Monday we decided to do other things.  We went and Rode the Ducks!  My favorite thing we did the whole weekend!   Then the Wax museum and the Dixie Stampede.  Also we had plenty of time to drive out by both lakes and take a look at the landing.  and enjoyed a nice cool off break getting ice cream and a funnel cake at that cakes and cream place.

I wasn't ready to go home Monday we had a great time!

Random Talk / What to do what to do

My husband and I's trip to Branson is approaching fast.  I have two day silver dollar city tickets and our rooms booked.  Now here is my problem there is so much other stuff to see and do that I just can not decide on  what else we want to do untill we get there.  We are only there three nights and four days.  The four things other than silver dollar city that is catching our eye are two shows,  Toni Roi, and the Broadway Show at the Branson Variety Theater.  And the Showboat Branson Belle or the Dixie Stampede.  All four of these things have caught my attention and are on the list of things maybe to do.  Now there is no way we can do all four so what would you guys reccomend over the other if you have ever been?  And since we can't make up our minds are all these things available at a box office, or are any of them a must have tickets in advance type of thing?  Its a trip for our anniversary so wanting to make it very special.  Thanks in advance for your feedback!  :)

Hi I am Melonie I am a newbie.  I found this site while researching where my husband and I could go on vacation in September.  I have only been to SDC once and that was way back in 1989.  I was a teenager and went with my youth group leaders.  I do not remember much from it except that I loved it, and liked it more than Six Flags in St.  Louis because things were more my speed. ( I do remember the candles and the candle makers cause I have always loved candles.)   Not a thrill ride rider lol. I remember attending a christian concert in the evening that was wonderful.  We were going to go camping AGAIN.  But decided since we never had a honeymoon to go to Branson.  I am 37 and live in Southeast Missouri.

Holiday world may not be putting out to much though.  I know when I went it was hot, so other than when I had meals I chose water from the fountain to stay hydrated.

Junior it is a lot of fun!  Yes they did start out a small Christmas themed park and grew over the years.  I know I was reading that at first in Santa Claus there were two parks and they competed to the point they put each other out of business.  And then the Koch family opened whats now known as Holiday World.  LOL They put a lot of history on their facebook page.  Also I got to go by the Santa Claus Indiana Santa Museum while in Santa and it tells a lot about it.  One of the attractions or buildings from the older park or Santa Land I think it was called is still there in SC Indiana as well the Candy Castle it was pretty cool and free of charge.

I don't know they afford the free drinks.  They have lots of Pepsi stations and Pepsi is on their website, so some sort of deal maybe?

To anyone that has never been, I strongly suggest Holiday World.  It is an awesome place.  Went for the first time this year.  They did an awesome marketing plan around our area in Southeast Missouri.  Gave tons of free tickets to radio stations etc this year and I was a lucky winner.  From where I am at it is just a four and a half hour drive.  About the same as Branson for me.  The water park, and the amusement park are all in one park.  Soft drinks, water and tea is always free and so is parking, and sunscreen.  It was a very good experience and going back next year.  In Santa Clause there is one hotel Santas Lodge and One campground, Rudolphs.  Outside of town in other areas there is plenthy of lodging and Lincolns Stae Park camp ground.

Thanks for the info we will definatly check the seats out front.  And will check out the info on the website.  Yes the hills may pose a bit of a problem for me, that is why it is always good to know in advance, but as long as I got some benches.  LOL I made it through HW world this year so hopefully I will SDC too.  And it is a bit smaller so I think I will enjoy it a lot more.

Hello it has been many years since I have been to SDC.  May be planning to go in September and just have a few questions.  One.. on the rides, what sizes can they accomadate.  Are there any that are pretty spacious.  Mostly being an adult family we wouldn't ride many anyway, would mainly enjoy looking at things, shows etc  But my husband hes a big tall man, so just curious..  Mainly would like to know about the coal mine, fire in the hole, and maybe the train ride.  Also I noticed it is 55 acres how much of it is hillage?  Thanks in advance!  :)
