Hoping to make it to the city sometime in '24 and really looking forward to riding the new FITH. I've said for a long time SDC needed a traditional dark ride with rich theming and it sounds like this is it!
For those who have been there I'm curious to know how they worked out the new train track crossing at FL?

Thanks for solving that mystery. Kind of seems odd they would make another crossing that will need to manned when the train is running. 

Question regarding FITH 2.0. (Maybe this has been covered but I haven't been on the site for a while.) Since it appears that the railroad track goes between Fireman's Landing and the ride building, how will guests get from one side of the tracks to the other. Will they put in another crossing like at the exit of FM or will they build some kind of viaduct?

Hi everyone! It has been many moons since I have been here but PastorDon is back! My adult son and I are planning a trip to SDC in a couple of weeks and plan to be there the weekend of October 10-11. I have looked at all the covid stuff on the SDC website and realize that at this point it looks like we will have to wear masks. (We're considering just using large handkerchiefs.)
I wanted to get the word on the ground about just how things are this season from folks who have been there. So my questions are:
1. How strict are they about the mask thing?
2. What is the general atmosphere in the park with covid restrictions?
3. If we get there first thing in the morning before the park is fully open, will there be any problems as far as getting in due to capacity issues?
4. Any other advice about how to make our visit more pleasant?

Thanks to Tinmann for answering my question about the strange rundown structure behind the Pottery Factory.  It sounds logical that it would be an old exit from the Playhouse.  Shave helped me figure out how to upload a picture of it.  Here it is.  

Today was the first time I've logged on since returning from our two week trip to Branson last week.  I was excited to see this new thread because I have a question about something I found pretty mysterious at SDC on my most recent trip.  While waiting for my wife near the Pottery Factory I noticed off in the woods between the Pottery Factory and the train tracks a rundown porch.  This was the first time I've noticed the building in nearly 15 years of visiting the City, and I thought perhaps some of the old timers could identify it for me.  Here's the link the photos on my Facebook page.  https://www.facebook.com/ron.burtz/media_set?set=a.10202847937225511.1073741837.1414032064&type=3

The fact that there's more to do than coasters is usually the only way I can convince people to even take a look at going to SDC. People my age group don't necessarily like the Six Flags experience any more than you. SDC has done virtually nothing but focus on rides since 2001, so there's plenty for everyone to do.

Shave, the above comment reminded me of the very first time I visited SDC.  We brought our church youth group thinking that they would really go for the thrill rides like Wildfire which had just opened at the time.  The funny thing was that they spent most of their time (especially a couple of the boys) visiting the shops.  It's a good reminder that it's not a good idea to pigeonhole demographic groups. 

I, on the other hand, wouldn't have gotten within a mile of a ride like Wildfire at the time, but a year or two later rode TNT and that gave me the courage to try Wildfire, and I was hooked.  So now, at 54, I love the thrill rides, the dark rides and the craftsmen & shops.  About the only thing I miss about a park like Disneyland is the dark rides with the amazing special effects and theming like the Haunted House. 

Of course I'm disappointed there's not going to be another amazing thrill ride with this addition, but I love the theming and think it's a big improvement over GG.  Looking forward to being in the city tomorrow night and getting my first ride on Outlaw Run!   

Hello SDC Fans.  Just a note to say we made it to Branson where we've been camping all week on Indian Point and enjoying this delicious weather!  Yesterday and today were absolutely perfect weatherwise, and it's been a real treat.  We plan to be in The City this weekend, and probably next weekend too, and would love to meet up with fellow SDC Fans. 

Wailers does work, but I was going for something a widdle more Elmer Fuddish Histowy Buff.

Congratulations to History Buff for coming up with the story behind my "Mama Mary" tongue twister.  (I might have known a guy with the handle of History Buff would know that bit of trivia!)  HB we'll be sending your Secret Decoder Ring just as soon as we figure out the super secret location of the stash.  (I think it's an underground vault hidden deep in a sub-basement of Grandfather's Mansion or in an undiscovered cavern in Marvel Cave.)  Unfortunately the location is so secret even Shave doesn't have a clue where it is.
