Branson Talk / Re: Foxfire Light

The only thing myself or my parents couldn't remember/recall was the restaurant that over looks the lake that she had lunch at.  Does anyone know anything about this place?  I'm sure someone does :)

Just rolled across the screen that "the city of Neosho closed to all non-essential personnel."  An entire city closed. Wow.

Branson Talk / Foxfire Light
February 01, 2011, 01:19:28 PM
Has anyone heard/seen Foxfire Light?  This morning I was searching for a movie to watch on my Netflix and found this movie.  It was filmed in the early 80s right here in the Ozarks.  It has scenes in downtown Branson showing the old doll shop, Dicks 5 and 10 and the Farmhouse restaurant.  It also shows off the beautiful mountains and Table Rock lake.  At the end of the movie, at the "old fashioned bbq," the band playing is, I'm pretty sure, the Homestead Pickers from SDC.  The movie was pretty great if you are into cheesy romantic movies with a soap opera story line.  Needless to say, I loved it.  Just was wondering if anyone else had seen it.

23.  Any time you leave somewhere you announce that you are "Gettin outa here, no matter what!"

24. You sing theme songs to your favorite rides.

25. You tell people riding in your care to please keep their arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times or they will get "bush whacked!"

26. You greet everyone with a "Howdy!"

Haha....I don't think so ;)  It pretty much consists of a 3 year old blond headed girl crying a screaming to the Pirate the he was NOT going to take my Momma! This does make me want to find that video now...maybe a weekend project.

I rode the Sammy Lane Pirate Cruise on my first trip to Branson.  I terrified me.  I was so afraid of the Pirate and when he came on the boat, he told me he was going to "take my Momma!"  I screamed and cried.  The embarrassing part it, my dad has it all on tape some where.  Although it was terrifying to a three year old, I wish it was still around.  I'm sure it was pretty fun, but to me I'll always remember it as the place where the Pirate was going to take "my Momma and steal my gold!"

Wildfire does but I don't think the other rides like Powder Keg and Thunderation do.

Branson Talk / Re: Noah Show
May 10, 2010, 10:24:51 PM
My family and I saw Noah two years ago.  It is definitely worth the money.  It completely changed how I read the Bible.  The show brings the words to life.  It made me think of some things that you normally wouldn't if you just read through, they were real people will real issues just like us.  I think even little kids would like it because of all the animals but it is kind of "scary" at times.  I say its a must do at least once.

I agree with needed night life.  After 8pm there is not much to do.  I think D&Bs would bring in a much needed younger crowd to help keep Branson going.  It makes me sad to see closed theaters, hotels, restaurants, and stores.

A few years ago there used to be a Hound Dog over by the homestead/petting farm area.  Does anyone know what happened to that dog?  I always wanted a blood hound, but my fiance didn't want a big dog so we settled on a basset hound.  He is the best! I'm going to the City this weekend, excited to meet this new addition to the City!

I can't pick a favorite spot. Just being there does it for me.  The smells, train whistle in the back ground, the roar of Wildfire, music coming from everywhere...its tough to choose.  I think though my absolute favorite spot of SDC is during Christmas.  First listening to Grandpa quote Luke 2 from the train then standing in the square watching the tree light up for the first time of the evening.  I get chills every time.

I also like sitting on the boat in the lake in the cove that you can see from the top of Wildfire.  Its a neat perspective of the City.

Branson Talk / Re: Branson Food
February 23, 2010, 01:22:22 PM
My family loves the Grand Country Buffet.  It is pricey but the best day to go is for Sunday brunch. We also love the Hard Luck Dinner.  The food is pretty good but the atmosphere is great since all the wait staff sings.   Thinking about all this Branson food makes me hungry!! Maybe a trip down there is in my near future!
