When I was a kid I demanded a garter every time we went, which was about every other weekend in the summer.  I wish I had saved those.  As a kid you don't think about stuff like that.  I also got a parasol one time and had it decorated. I think my mom still has a couple of the glass mugs.  I have a Victorian looking paper doll book and a coloring book I got in the book store as a teenager.  Best thing we still have is the first tin type photo we had done.  I was about 6 in the picture and my dad looked like he truly belonged in that era it was funny (he passed away in 2011) great memories there.  I have gotten so many trinkets and things over the years, it's hard to choose a favorite.  I seem to also remember little "view finder" like key chains that had pictures of you on American Plunge.  Those remind me of my grandparents who are now gone too,  that was my grandpa's favorite ride.  I think he rode that up till he got too sick to go there anymore.  Oh the things you remember....

I saw this the weekend right after Thanksgiving.  There was SOOOO many ppl there watching the shows.  The seating in the Red Gold building is terrible.  My boyfriend and I were almost at the very top.  All I could see was the top half of the stage.  I was very disappointed in the seating.  From what little I saw of the show it was great.  Story line was still moving and the musical numbers were great.  It just sucked that I couldn't see.  I'm going back with my kids this weekend and I want my family to see it but we'll have to waste park time standing in line to get a seat where my little guys can see.  Wish there was a better way.  I think it's a waste of money to get the show stopper package when everything there is already a little over priced.  We'll make do though.  Won't stop our excitement in seeing this show!

Well I want to say thank you to SDC period.  Because of SDC my little boy's eyes light up when we see an SDC commercial on our local tv stations.  It was only 7 days ago and him and I both want to go back.  Totally gonna try to get passes next spring.  I grew up playing there every other weekend on average and I want my kids to have the same memories as I do.  I get so caught up in my thoughts and feelings and memories when I talk or even think about SDC.  My entire family had passes (close to 20 of us at the time.)  I have memories of my dad (whom passed away this past winter) and I there.  I also have memories of my granddad and I there (he's been gone 6 years this month.)  My other grandad used to go with our big family groups back before his brain tumor and stroke.  Now it's almost impossible for him to go even in his electric wheelchair.  (By the way we still have him)  SDC is so special to me.  I am glad to have a place to take my children that I know will be a positive place for them and we can all have fun together just like I did when I was young.  So yes thank you Moonlight Madness but more so thank you SDC for everything you have given me and family.

As I recall "Dippin' Dots" were origianlly called "Thunder Dots" when Thunderation was first opened.  The kiosk was just outside the entrance to the ride.  I feel like they tried to theme the ice cream into the park a little better to start with.  I like them ok,  it's the novelty of it.  I'm sure legally they had to change the name to the brand "Dippin' Dots".  I still find myself calling them "Thunder Dots".

I was glad to see some FITH merch in the HH!  I got my son a FITH t-shirt and mini basketball!  But there could be so much more,  as I mentioned in an earlier post.  We always scour Branson for firemen stuff and it's hard to find.  I would love to have a t-shirt that said Silver Dollar City Volunteer Fire Dept on it!  Just a thought but I could really see that there!

there is nothing like standing in a parking lot with your eyes closed on a hot day and just sniff real big.  I almost get teary eyed every time!  anytime I hear anyone say fire in the hole, anytime I have taffy,  anytime I smell black powder burning, anytime I hear blue grass music,  every time I open the cabinet and there are mugs from all my yrs going to SDC or the boot shaped cups from Dixie Stampede,  any time I smell pork rinds.... I mean the list is endless.  I even have dreams with something SDC in it.  my husband laughs at me cause if I like something I become obsessed with it and SDC is one of those things (if I like it it's a passion if I don't like it then I will never like it)  the hubby just doesn't understand he didn't grow up going to SDC,  he grew up in Texas.  No I think everyone is normal,  or at least we are all weird together lol!

Made my first trip to SDC in three years on Monday.  Having read some of the previous forum discussions on here I kinda knew what to look forward to.  However once in the park that all went out the window because I was having too much fun just being there again.  I loved it!!  My five yr old son was finally old enough (or big enough) to ride most of the rides I like to ride (the big roller coasters are too much for me,  give me headaches.)  I thought he would be all about the big kid rides but it turns out he wasn't. lol  He rode everything at least once (he can't ride ES,  WF,  and GS) couldn't get him on PK but I can't blame him I don't like that one either.  Anyways FITH we rode twice and I noticed the changes...the music was loud and the new scenes looked pretty good but what I noticed the most was the amount of water they were using in the splash down.  It was a lot and it was great....I do hope they can find a way to keep that fixture because I loved it!  I have a slight gripe with AP,  the ride was fun and I got wet but my kid was scared of the LOOONG dark tunnel.  Can't we do something in there?  I mean there used to be little scenes in there now there is nothing and I kept having the feeling that something was gonna jump out at me lol.  There was also nasty brown foam and sudsy looking stuff circulating in the "whirlpool" scene and the guy's head was totally gone,  it was a little gross and weird lol.  They water was nice and cold though and felt good!  My brother talked me in to riding the Giant Swing for the first time,  I opted out the last time I was there.  It was terrifying!!  Yet it was fun,  I screamed the entire time!  I have to admit though that the best time the whole family had was on River Blast!  We were drenched to the bone after that!  A lot of fun on that ride.  I got a lot more (I mean a ton more) wet on the River Blast than on LROTO.  Kind of let down by the lost river,  didn't get hardly wet at all.  Still fun though!!  We rode the train after that,  that was one of the best trips on the train.  The hold up scene was as I remembered it, nearly word for word.  However the kid playing Alphie was GREAT,  very cute job!  He really interacted with the crowd and the conductor forgot what day it was and "lost it" and Alphie's "mom" claimed him and had the whole group doing impromptu,  very funny!  It was all they could do to hold it together to get through the scene.  It was great! I did notice that the roof of the trains are showing their age,  the wood is bowing and rotting in places under the red paint.  But I easily looked past it and had fun.  I was also a little dismayed by the Cajun Connection show,  it was so short and no where near the production it used to be in the Riverfront Playhouse.  It was still good and we bought 2 CD's.  It's still the only show I will watch.  It was almost 8pm when we finally made it out of the park and we got there just after opening ceremonies.  I feel like I didn't get it all in.  That's the trouble with only doing a one day trip this year.  Didn't have that feeling when we had the passes.  Maybe with the kids getting older (hopefully my 2 yr old can ride more next yr) we can buy passes next season.  I knew I missed it but didn't realize how much.  It's always been one of my fav places on earth.  The drive up from Springdale,  AR seemed much faster now with all the new roadways they have built.  We didn't eat in the park,  we brought sandwiches and went to the car for lunch (which is fine because they food is too expensive and there's not much flavor to it) but we did get some alligator jerky up by PK and it was good!  I love the help yourself ICEE stations,  Coke ICEE's are the best!!  They shops should stay open late with the park because we all got so caught up in riding that we missed buying some stuff we wanted to buy.  There's always next time!  All in all I had a blast and my son fell in love with the park,  he cried when we left.  :-[  Maybe next time I will feel better taking my youngest down into the cave (didn't want to have to carry him through it) and we can make more time for Grandfather's Mansion.  I can't wait to go back,  hopefully we can afford season passes next yr.  SDC....we loved you!!

I absolutely cannot wait to see this place next week!!  I'm probably the biggest GWTW fan around.  I have seen the movie so many times I couldn't possibly begin to put a number on it and have read the book at least a half dozen times.  I have been waiting nearly my whole life to get the chance to see something like this.  I can't wait!!!! ;D

I would open a store near FITH that sold FITH merchandise and other replica antique firefighter "stuff".  My firemen family members would drop the bank in that store plus it would be a great way to further honor the men and women who put their lives on the line fighting fire, rescuing people, and saving lives in general.
