Actually, the "Richard is related to Reuben Branson" thing is for real (or, at least, the below-linked article says it wasn't a joke). The April Fools joke is that Virgin Airlines will relocate its US headquarters to Branson:

His announcement was a great advertisement for Branson, joke or not.
