Branson Talk / Re: Branson Shuffle- Ready for 2015?
« on: February 07, 2015, 10:33:49 AM »
I read where Jim Stafford is coming back to Branson this year.  He will be doing shows in his old theatre.

While we were at Dollywood for Christmas I saw where they built a large new parking lot just across the railroad tracks from Thunderhead.  They had to clear a lot of land to make that happen.  I didn't catch the full message but the guy on the tram said they were undergoing a major parking lot reshuffle and reorganization for 2015.  It made me wonder if they are going to repurpose some of the parking that was near the front of the park for park expansion.  That would be one of the few flat areas they have left excluding the train loop on top of the hill.  They would have to rework the turnstiles a bit to accommodate the new park area if they moved it to the old parking lot but it got me to wondering.

My opinion is that this is a preemptive strike for the cold weekend ahead.

My parents were there last night and said they had a good time.  My dad thought the crowd was a bit less than last year.  Said the new parade was pretty good.  Will try to get more details.

A recent story about OTC in the Tri Lakes News said SDC traditionally gets around 200,000 visitors in November and another 100,000 in December.

Just being funny here...they are going to house SDC's version of fast pass kiosks.

Construction/Rumors / Re: go back to doing the interactive street shows

Last I knew you could still get deputized.  All you have to do is find the sheriff and ask.  He carries badges with him and puts them on.  I have not been to SDC this year but I know he was doing it last year because I took my nephews to get their star.

Is it going to remain a water ride or will they fill in the channel and make it dry?

Other Parks / Holiday World 2015 Project
« on: July 25, 2014, 05:30:42 PM »
I see where Holiday World announced their 2015 project last night.  It's going to be the world's first launched wing coaster.  It will be their biggest ever investment at $22 million dollars.  Looks like it's going to be a nice ride.  They have good info at their website.  First steel coaster for HW.

I saw some of the stuff they picked when I was at DW back in April.  Really neat to see where it came from and how it got there.

I would still like to see some webcams scattered around the park so I can "visit" whenever I want...even in the offseason.

Back a few years ago my Dollywood Gold Pass also got me into SDC and Whitewater for free with half price admission to Celebration City.  That was a great deal as we spent a lot of time in both Branson and Pigeon Forge.  HFE did away with those benefits though and cut it to half price admission at SDC and WW.  The Gold Pass does get you free parking and 20% off food and merchandise at DW which helps.  Dollywood uses photo passes and they don't take too long to get.  Remember, you get the photo pass once and use that same one until it wears out. You simply renew your pass over the phone or internet and they just reactivate it.  So really the cost of the photo pass doesn't seem too bad when someone renews their pass for several years.  Renewal moves quickly because they already have all your info. SDC needs to go to the photo pass.
