General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Cinnamon Bread.....Please Help!

I have not been in the new lpace but is this true?  are they no longer making the bread?
I don't think they have been actually mixing the dough, and doing all the baking even in Sullivan's Mill for a while now. I think it has been pre made, and just baked there. Not like to old days watching Frank doing all the baking.
Still, a thousand percent better than the dry, tasteless cinnamon rolls at Eve & Delilah's Bakery at the entrance. Their stuff tastes like some cheap plastic wrapped roll from a convience store! Maybe even dryer, and more tasteless!

i just donít think itís an incredible inconvenience to relocate the cinnamon bread as a whole
It is very inconvenient if you want to start out your day with a cup of coffee, and some cinnamon bread! To visit the shops, enjoy the music at the gazebo then continue your way through the rest of the park you would either have to wait until you get all the way to the new location down the hills in the bottom. Or go all the way there, then back up the hill to the town square again!
Very inconvenient!

Simply put, nonsense!

I have been a season pass holder for 30 years. As long as I can remember they have "managed" the cinnamon rolls just fine at Sullivan's Mill.
I'm not saying have all the foo foo "speciality" flavors. Just the original like we watched Frank, the baker, make for many, many years.

You missed my point a bit. The new place is fine. Especially for the foo foo version adulterated with fruit, chocolate or whatever.
But why couldn't they still have the original cinnamon bread at Sullivan's Mill for those who would like to start their day with a cinnamon bread, and cup of coffee.
BTW, "coffee" opens another can of worms. Starbucks! YUK!!!!

As I posted on another Branson forum:

OK, a call to arms, or emails anyway, to all of the Society of SDC Cinnamon Bread Lovers.
Go to their webpage, and ask them to please bring the great original cinnamon bread back to Sullivans Mill.
Keep their new fancy bakery store, sell their multi flavored abominations of the original cinnamon bread there. But at least have the original available at Sullivans too!
It was so nice to enter the park, a short walk across Town Square, and have a cinnamon bread, and cup of coffee. Now it's half way, or better across the park. Why?
My only thought is maybe that way it will increase the sales of those dry, tasteless, disgusting things they call cinnamon rolls at that bakery place as you enter.

In all honesty you could put Harvest Crafts or cowboys with Pumpkin Nights and still would have had a large increase in attendance.  Shoot....you could have called it Tiddlywinks contest and Pumpkin Nights and still had a big spike in attendance.  Its pretty clear Pumpkin Nights is what is bringing them in.
But the Fall Crafts has been the Fall festival for as long as I have been visiting SDC, nearly 30 years. They started adding something with it some time back. Can't really remember when, but before the ciwboys I think it was harvest fest.
However nothing I can remember has had the overwhelmingly positive reaction as the Pumpkin Nights.

I am in the minority here but what is so intriguing about pumpkins ?
Have you seen any of the amazing artwork done with these pumpkins? Have you experienced the beauty of how they are displayed, all lit up in the night? Then there is the rest of the activities in the plaza. With dance parties, a DJ, comedy magician.
Giant creatures like spiders, cats, and owls made from pumpkins.
I really don't know what you are looking at if you see of the advertising, but I know you must not be seeing Pumpkin Nights!

The cowboy stuff had run it's course. Some interesting things, and the show in the Red Gold barn was good. But it had nowhere near the excitement, and draw for mass crowds that Pumpkin Nights does.
The visiting crafters will always have somewhat of a draw, but needs something else added to bring in the big crowds.

Huge difference.  The latter two are often found in cities, while a town has its own local government (as does a city).  Cities and towns may be adjacent to one another, but are not a part of each other.
Nope! For instance, in the city of St. Louis there is Dutch Town, the mostly German area. Also Dog Town, known as the Irish area. (There's an interesting story behind the Dog Town name that has nothing to do with ethnicity)
The old, historic area in the city of Florissant Missouri is officially called "Old Town". Big cities don't have areas called downcity do they? Or maybe Uptown Cafe in Branson should be Upcity Cafe because it is within the city limits of Branson.
So, within a "city" there certainly can be distinct areas referred to as "town"

Harvest Crafts VS Pumpkin Nights!  = Pumpkin Nights is the victor
Nope, Harvest Crafts and Pumpkin Nights = winner.
Harvest Crafts and lame cowboys = old, and stale.

Branson Talk / Branson Belle---Poor Service
« on: July 22, 2017, 02:10:44 AM »
For the first time ever we had a server (Terry) on the Bell on Tuesday night that was terrible. Not sure what his problem was, but he seemed to think we were on some kind of liquid starvation program. Filled our glasses one time, and did not check back. At least not until the very last time before the show. I think the server for the rows in front of us had said something because now that it was too late, he asked three times while he was there... Didn't leave a carafe of tea like he did every other table or group, or like all the other servers did. After he first filled our glasses he was gone, thought Christopher had a new act making our server disappear! He came back when it was time for the food. By then I had asked the server taking care of the rows in front of us to refill our glasses. There is no excuse for this kind of service. It has always been top notch on the Showboat Branson Belle.

What Mr. Bass Pro is doing helps but it's out of town and you can easily spend a week at his properties and not think twice about going into town
Exactly. One thing I noticed when looking at the website for Big Cedar. Mention of Branson attractions, shows, and restaurants were conspicuous by it's absence.

Why ruin that with a situation like the above scenario where the kids and mom stay at WW or SDC while dad goes off and gambles. That's not family like and in fact is anti-family. Just my opinion though...
It's hilarious how paranoid some people get about a casino coming to Branson. Read the Missouri statutes, it ain't gonna happen!!!
Secondly, why the sexist attitude about it? Obviously, you have never been in a casino. Especially a Missouri casino. Dad's go gambling while mom stays with the kids? LOL, probably at least a two to one ratio of women to men in the casinos I've been in. Probably an average age close to a Branson tour bus as well.
Rap music at SDC, I can see it. After all, they replaced a great restaurant with old time home cooking, ham & beans, fried chicken, corn bread, with an authentic 1800's Ozark Mountain pizza parlor!

By the artists renderings of the proposed baseball complex I'm not even sure it will add to the existing restaurant business. It looks like many of the existing buildings will be repurposed. Probably some to locker rooms for the fields, maybe meeting rooms, but by the artists conception drawings it looks slideshows, and restaurants as well.

As far as casinos, although unless some miracle of politics happens, they just aren't going to happen. So don't worry. But if that one in more than a million change happens the best idea is as hoped for before. Runaway Beach. A 15-20 minute drive for those who would want to enjoy gaming without it being in Branson.

The new Branson TV spots that have been running on St.Louis stations have been leaning in a new direction. Many more commercials than in the past few years. The first spots run didn't even mention shows, but keyed on golf, the lakes, and outdoor adventures. Now they are alternating with some with entertainment as the focus. But not so much of the "hillbilly" shows that many think of when Branson is mentioned. Good move on their part. Most of those I know who have the hillbilly image of Branson say they have no reason to go there. But if the word can get out that Branson offers much more than fiddles, banjos, high pocket bib overalls, and blacked out teeth, there just might be some new visitors interested.

Not sure what you're getting at here.

Still down. 1Branson was a big forum with a large amount of traffic.

That's exactly what I'm getting at! Something other than technical problems must be going on.
