We have Lumen.  It is a joy...

Sorry, I would have used the sarcasm emoticon, but I don't know which one it is.

Lumen is a joy...  <--- sarcasm

This is our 3rd year of Lumen at my district... you would think we'd have all the kinks worked out by now, but no... Lumen decided (like facebook would do) to update itself for the sake of making things more complicated.  ::)

This is our third year for Lumen, too.  I don't know why it has to be so complicated.  When I first came to the district, I bought my own gradebook program since the district didn't use one.  I bought it over the Internet, and I didn't have instructions, although I'm sure there was customer service/help if I needed it.  The point is--I didn't need instructions!  It was so easy, I could use common sense to use it.  It even had online parent access!

With Lumen, we started using it one year when I taught summer school.  I was on the phone with Lumen nearly every day of summer school...

And why can't all of the reports be in the same place for crying out loud?!!  And why does it sometimes just get stuck on something, such as attendance?!!  And why does it update to make it more complicated, like right around the times grade are due?!!

I hear it has features that make it easy to send info to DESE, but I find it hard to believe that anything is easy about it.

Yeah attendance taking seems to be the most problematic thing on Lumen.
IDK.  I feel your pain though.  :(

SO I am getting the hang of Infinite Campus...in case you all move to that, it isn't all too bad. Great for administrators and counselors, a bit rough and bumpy for teachers.
Mid term reports for us are due Friday (yes we've been in that long already!)

That is a small issue compared to the full 6th grade Gifted Comm. Arts curriculum that is due in one month (they told me today-first mention since it was put on hold in the Spring) So if you have one laying around, I need help, 1 person plus 1 full curriculum in about 30 days is going to be horrible, and not worth the $500 when it is completed. This sucks.

Mid terms were in for us on Friday...1/2 through the quarter or 1/4 through the semester or 1/8 through the year! Fall break is in about 4 weeks, so I am pretty excited about that. (We have a week break at the 1/4 mark much like a spring break, which explains to all why we are so far ahead in our school year)

I have no idea when midterms are for us.  I'm sure they'll just sneak up on me.

I can't believe how tired I am on the first day back from Labor Day weekend.  I didn't even screw up my sleep schedule.  I think I tried to do too much during the weekend.  I should have done more resting...

Wow.  I can't remember the last time I was able to get onto SDCFans.  I just can't jump high enough for my district anymore.

^Shoot.  Now that they are taking 14% out for teacher retirement fund, I can't afford to even drink Soda (pop) let alone alcohol anymore.  :-\

Not going to read all 17 pages...  Just dropping a note to add my wife to the list of SDC fans who are teachers.
