It was only a matter of time. I'm honestly surprised it lasted as long as it did.

It also appears that they will be doing something with the cabanas at the wave pool.

Shame they are going to tear that down.  I wonder if they have plans? or if this is a liability issue.

Too bad, But it does look bad when you drive by, wood pieces hanging off of it..  Sitting unused is bad ln the whole facility..  I will miss seeing it.

LOL.  It is almost a Branson landmark

It should have been done long ago, but I really held out hope for awhile that somehow they would refurbish and re-open it. OzCat really was one of the best GCII's ever. Maybe I'm biased, but it really was a nice package of classic design, sweeping curves, and airtime.

I'm wondering what is driving them to finally demolish it: the structure itself degrading, the Spirit of 76 project, or perhaps a new use for the site?

I'm sad in that all of the visits we made to Celebration City we never rode the OzCat -- always thought "next time" until there was no next time to do so.

It's depressing to lose a solid coaster that had no business being left to rot. CC the one black eye on HFE.

It's less sad tearing it down than it is watching it rot.

It would have been cool to maybe have some shops around it and sell tickets for rides, almost like a go-kart track. I'd pay to ride it again...

I would like to use some of the OzCat wood for craft projects. Or make a bed from. What about the Ozcat sign? I would like to have that too! I think they should raffle that off......

Bingo! Funny, there's a go cart track wasting away, there was an arcade building wasting away. I've said it over and over again that It should have evolved into a  no admission fee entertainment district where things were sold on a per ride or ride pass basis.

^It does seem to be a no-brainer to us.  I wonder who thinks it's a yes-brainer.  Does it just not fit into their business model?

Here's an article from the 10/27 edition of Branson Tri-Lakes about the demolition:

It strikes me how much they are emphasizing that nothing is really being pursued yet for the property. They're just getting rid of OzCat finally because it's bad for the town's image to have a defunct amusement park look so obvious.

Awhile back there were some rumors floating around town that HFEC was evaluating an aquarium. It seems like those plans probably fell through, especially with the leadership change. I'm still just wondering what it will take for them to finally make a move here, but it sounds like they have big projects stacked up at DW and SDC for years.
