Branson Landing Expansions
« on: July 31, 2014, 09:59:57 PM »
I don't get to Branson Landing on every visit, since it's basically just another mall, but we did get down there this afternoon to eat at Famous Dave's.  We watched the zip line that pulls people to the cliff on the other side of the lake ($25 per person for three times), walked past the little shooting gallery ($3), and noticed a new feature at the Belk end of the shops.  The Branson trolley driver told us it would be a tethered hot air balloon ride (though I imagine it will be a gas-filled balloon and not reliant on hot air).  He said it would have a 100-foot tower, so I guess it will be a prominent feature and will be visible from a long distant.

It will more than likely be the return of the Branson Baloon that was on SOTH Expressway. It was owened in part by George Casey, Bobby Venton's long time opening act. It was then bought by the Herschend's to eventually expand Celebration City into what was going to be a resort style area. It has been sitting at CC since late 2007. I wonder if it will remain Herschend owened?

I'm not a pessimist; really, I'm not!  But I don't like Penguin Pete's - it's noisy and obnoxious, and I read on another site that the yellow aquaplane can longer fly low over the lake because of it.  That might be true as I didn't see the yellow plane once this summer.  I love the Landing, so I hope it doesn't start acquiring a carnival type atmosphere with an additional ride.  As a side note, though - I did see the P Pete lifts gliding up the bluff in a heavy fog one night.  All that could be seen was the neon glow.  That was kinda cool.

Of course I wouldn't complain if there was a renewed Sammy Lane Pirate Cruise down there.

Oh, geez!  Me either!  I loved the pirate cruise.  How fun that would be to see that coming down the lake and hearing the boom!

With the current crowds and an inexpensive price, it could be successful again.

I loved the Sammy Lane cruise as a kid. Always had fun on it. Would be kinda cool to see it return.

According to the Friday edition of Branson Tri-Lakes, 5 - 15 more stores/restaurants are going to be built at the north end of the Belk parking lot plus 130 more parking spaces.

I really think a Dave and Busters would go over great here.  Also a nice themed restaurant like Aquarium, T-Rex, Rainforest Cafe.

An original "Mark Twain Cafe" or "Lewis and Clark Cafe" would be even better.

It seems as though every time I'm there another one has gone out of business and something else is in its place.  I'm not so sure 5 -15 new places will succeed.  The aquarium idea is pretty cool.  Bass Pro's Fish House used to be a great restaurant, but they have really gone downhill, and the ratings on line for it are terrible.  I wish they would fix the problem.  It was such a fun place to eat.

Along the same lines, a Malco Theater/Bowling/FEC development. They seem to be going all in on these.

Gamezone, kinda Dave and Busters like.

So just a strip mall attached to the end of the landing...not a real addition for the ambiance.  The cynic in me says there will be payday loans, tanning beds, tax preparation, and a Little Caesar's in there.  Hopefully that's not true.
