The mayor of New Orleans, Mitch Landrieu, recently invited investors on Wednesday 8/17 to place bids on the property.
From an article Wed:
Quote
In recent years, the once bustling amusement park has become a playground for thieves, vandals, and photographers.

The city still owes $13 million from when the park was originally built, and combining that with the previously mentioned lack of funding, the city has decided to put restrictions on the bids. Specifically, they are looking for an amusement park, water park, or a retail center.

The city is attempting to be as accommodating as possible, offering to clear rides and buildings at the expense of the city instead of the buyer. In fact, the city is currently working on auctioning the rides and parts to garner funds.

The city will be accepting bids until October 10th, 2011.

Wow, very interesting pictures, and articles! In a sense, you could almost hear the laughter of young ones, and the clacking of the rollercoaster lifts, and that famous New Orleans music that flowing through the air.

I am glad to hear that the city is ready to invest in a revitalization project for the property. I wonder if any of those attractions could be salvageable? The big rollercoasters might since most of the track is off the ground.

That is so creepy!! And also very sad, hopefully someone will buy up the land and restore it to another great family destination for the people of New Orleans.

OK, the guy and the gal with him are a little loopy...somewhat weird. Interesting to see an update on the park though. Thanks for posting.
