TLC's "My Collection Obsession"
« on: August 28, 2011, 03:57:30 PM »
Hss anyone else seent his yet? It is a show that follows several people during each episode that are obsessed with collecting certain items. This episode had 2 gentleman that are OBSESSED with Dolly.

The guys spend around $16-18,000 a year . One guy even has a full time obsession of 10+ hrs a day dealing with the collection.40+ genuine outfits, photos, albums, games,  in all over 1 million Dolly related pieces. They even moved to Tennessee to be closer to Dollywood (visiting 3-4 times a week). Once a week they visit the Chasing Rainbows Museum. Try and catch this it even has a cameo by guess who????

It airs again on TLC:
8/29 @ 9:oo pm
8/30 @ 12:00am
8/31 @ 6:00 pm

The sad thing is they were the most "normal" of all the people on that show!  lol!  The one that really freaked me out was the doll lady.

I just skipped past that after I saw her taking a youth sided doll to a shoe store to try on shoes. The Shoe lady was a bit out there, but that wasn't too odd. (I am not near that bad with my SDC stuff!) Yes I have hundreds of items, but not a level to a house, nor do I spend hours daily primping my collection!

My parents were telling me about this show, so glad it is going to re-air. Since we went to Dollywood this summer, I was wanting to see the footage of the park and what all it showed, along with their obsessive collection.
You have a great past just ahead of you.

The footage of the park is VERY minimal. The front gat, a fountain, and the Chasing Rainbows museum (which go the most footage).

Just watched the show! I wanted to punch the vacuum cleaner kid. He seemed kinda cocky and "know-it-all"-ish.
Was it just me, or did Dolly seem a little creeped out?

Anytime I go into a persons basement and they have a collection of my old clothes, my old instruments, figures of me, photos of my througout my life etc. I get a little edgy too!

Has this been a persistent problem Rube? I mean sure, my full sized cardboard cutout of you was a bit much, but I am getting physiological help. ;D

I enjoyed the show; didn't know I was going to have to sit through the other 3 weirdo's first though! haha
Actually, the shoe lady, the vacuum kid, and the dolly fans were not that bad; they just seemed liked obsessed collectors (hince the name of the show), but that DOLL LADY!! AHHH, she freaked me out!  :o  :o  :o

Umm yah, a little much wasn't it?

Sorry about the wasted 40 minutes! If anyone wants to see it, tune in for atleast the second half of the show to be sure to catch it (actually it would be roughly the last 15 or so minutes)

As soon as the shoe lady came on, I'm like, "Mom, never again can you tell me I have too many shoes!"  :P
