parson, i would be surprised if it is the cable company's fault/responsibility.
 I would the think the "filter" or "block channel" process would be the individual user (motel) responsibility.. 
 Cable company would provide all channels, user would decide what would or would not be allowed to individual rooms.
I would be interested in their response?

I'm not sure how it works for businesses, but if the cable company sent that stuff to my house, unrequested and unfiltered where my kids could access it, I'd have complaints filed with the FCC and Better Business Bureau and State Attorney General faster than a Powderkeg launch!

true enough. 

I do know that in residences they have filters that screw on the line outside at the "pole" / "source"/.

 as i said not sure how business/motel would control it internally?

Let’s just be thankful that the people who really have to be concerned about the mechanics of the issue - the motel owners - have corrected the problem, and we can all live happily ever after. ;D
