Trip Report 5/10/25
I was able to visit this past saturday, here's how it went:
Even though the place was crowded, Wildfire (at least when I went) only had one train operations, which was disappointing. but the line wasn't too bad, and the larger capacity of the ride helps move people through.
Powderkeg is still chugging along, but sadly no repaint yet. You can really notice the cleared out trees here.
Outlaw run was running WAY smoother, and I was in the very last row on a wheel seat. props to the maintenance crew. The cleared out trees were the most apparent here, but it was cool to see more of the ride, watching it glide across the track.
Thunderation was running much better, and felt less rough in the back. Still jerky as ever though lol.
Time traveler was running fine as ever, but on the second launch we were e-stopped and sat there for about 5mins. I wasn't too upset and honestly it was kinda cool since I have never been estopped before. However, instead of evacuating they just launched us at full throttle the rest of the way. Makes me wonder how the ride would feel with an expanded second half. Anyway the ride closed after that for a while.
Giant barn swing was finally running both side after like 4 years of it not. Or I was just unlucky for 4 years. Either way nice to see it running at full capacity. Mystic Rivers also ran just fine.
FITH had a long line and broke before I could ride and I had to leave :(
The new area connecting grand expo to fire district was nice and convenient, but a little disappointing. The themeing just isn't up to snuff with the rest of the park. However I will give it time to settle in with the rest of the park.
Sadly I was not able to get any construction photos of project 2026. no good areas to find and not much progress made.
My biggest criticism was ride reliability. It was a busy day and rides kept going down. Outlaw run, Time traveler (twice), FITH, and PowderKeg iirc. I know that this type of thing is unpredictable, and I feel for the maintanence crews and all the hard work they do, it was just a little disappointing.
Overall I had a great time but i'm definately ready for a new coaster. I do wish some more tlc was done to the rides, but like I said OR ran fantastic and is still my #1 coaster.

We visited the City on Wednesday December 18th. Our schedules left us with a Wednesday being the best day to visit.  We had planned the trip a week before and were happy to see that day added to the schedule.  Also a pleasant surprise was that Rhonda Vincent had a Christmas Bluegrass show scheduled for that day only in Red Gold Heritage Hall (she eventually added another couple of shows for that Wednesday).  The weather was cool enough that we could wear our winter coats all day but not freezing cold once the sun went down.  We went to the 2pm Rhonda Vincent show and though the City was far from crowded that day I think the majority of them were at the show LOL.  We got there 20 minutes before the show started and there was already a huge crowd.  The show was very good, all Christmas songs except for one bluegrass version of Dolly Parton's "9 to 5".  Rhonda's mom came up on stage and sang Buck Owens "Santa Looks A Lot Like Daddy".  She did a very good job.

Since the crowds were light we ended up riding Fire in the Hole 5 times.  While my wife and daughter were shopping I even rode it once by myself and I was the only one on that particular train!  Really amazing considering we rode it in May, July, and October and spent around an hour in line each time.  Outlaw Run was also a walk on.  I was talking to one of the ride workers at Fire in the Hole later about hoping they would start work soon on smoothing out Thunderation.  He said he heard they would probably replace it with a Mystery Mine type ride but from others on this site (including Swoosh) it sounds more like they will just work on making Thunderation smoother and not replacing it.  In my version of a perfect world, if they were to replace it, I would love to see it turned into a version of Disney's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (hey I can dream  :) ).  We also got in rides on the Flooded Mine, Sing Along Steam Train and Firefall.

The Frontier Fa-La-La Follies at the Saloon were great as always.  We also saw The Living Nativity which is always very good though the angel Gabriel was a voice over only and not a live person.  The Rhonda Vincent show, the Saloon, and the Nativity were the only shows we went to.  Our daughter got dinner to go at the Riverside Smokehouse and we took it up the hill to the Wagon Works Grill where my wife got the seasonal Ozarks Chili and I got the All American Special.  The tree show on Main Street was great as usual.  We were at the City the whole time from 1pm to 9pm.

The next day we went to Buccee's outside of Springfield then toured the Wilson Creek Civil War Battlefield in Springfield.  I highly recommend it if you've never been.  Very well maintained and free admission.  Happy New Year to everyone and looking forward to the (sadly) truncated but still appealing Bluegrass and BBQ festival in May.

^They mention it over the speakers pretty often when they say to leave things in the cubbies. I occasionally get told to leave my glasses behind, though they are usually OK on the SDC coasters. Usually I remember my strap as well.

Quote from: Okiebenz on May 06, 2025, 07:35:03 PMI have been going to Little Rock for years for work, and all over Ark in general and how I have I never heard of this park before?

If you drive from LR to Hot Springs, you drive right past the park.

Since the park explicitly forbids photos taken on rides, we try not to encourage that, even if they are technically taken in a "safe" manner. Theoretically you aren't supposed to wear glasses on rides either, although that is somewhat nebulous and isn't usually enforced.
Shave, where are you seeing that glasses aren't allowed on rides?  I've never been on a ride where glasses weren't allowed.  Even Steel Vengeance's very strict guidelines allows for glasses or sunglasses as long as you have a strap

Got it.
On the glasses... according to the ride guidelines booklet you just have to "take necessary precautions" on most rides. The PowderKeg sign says that glasses/sunglasses should have a strap.

Quote from: shavethewhales on May 07, 2025, 11:20:03 AMI've heard the area past Powderkeg is pretty substantial.

Just to clarify, are photos taken on rides with sunglasses not allowed to be posted on here? I had asked before posting and never heard back and now the photos have been deleted. Just want to make sure to not post more in the future if that is the case.

I'm headed there on the 17th so I can finally see for myself. I've heard the area past Powderkeg is pretty substantial. I know the post about "Fire in the Ozarks" were a joke, but one has to wonder how accurate that will end up being. It seems like they are preparing quite a bit of area. I don't think there will be a new land, but I can see a coaster going off into that area pretty easily. Their land on that side of the park goes on till the lake pretty much.

I have a feeling the tunnel is going to be just as basic as before, with a few lamps along it so it isn't pitch black all the way through. I think they'll add back a bit of theming when the area is done, but I'm not expecting much. Probably some signage. If we're really lucky they'll bring back an animatronic, but I'm not holding my breath.
