Don't all the water rides close every year at Labor Day? Or is subjective to the weather now?

Typically, they are open weather permitting through Harvest festival and are closed for An Old Time Christmas. Tom & Huck typically has closing date in the middle of Harvest Festival.

American Plunge closing this early is out of the ordinary and is unique to this season.

American Plunge normanly doesn't close exactly on Labor Day (unlike the late Waterworks Water Toboggan, Wilderness Water Toboggan closed a little later in the fall as I clearly remember seeing Wildfire go vertical from the left side of Wilderness.) . They are clearly in a hurry to get the old Float Trip area prepped as they have thrown a lot of man power and equipment in a very small space. From what I could see, when they severed the bypass from the ride, they took care to leave the AP flume intact.

As today (Sept6), it would appear the American Plunge is closed for a while, maybe the rest of the season. Crews are wasting no time hammering out the old Float Trip portion that serves as a bypass between the lift and the old station. I would be surprised if a new bypass would be able to be built in the remaining weeks (unless a temporary dropbox and pump is set up.)

It's page lists it as closing on 9/1 and it's no longer listed on the attractions page (it's normal for rides to be removed from that page when they close for the season)

I've been to Magic Mountain (3 days), Kings Island, Cedar Point (4 days), Six Flags St. Louis, Michigan's Adventure, Six Flags Great America, and Canada's Wonderland (2 days) this year and can't say I've had a bad day in any of those parks and meals have been decent (but obviously not to the level of my Silver Dollar City trips this year ). The only roller coasters that have been closed on those trips were Maxx Force and Thunderhawk. I've also had a gold pass with all park passport three years in a row with all park meals/drinks add-ons, and I've paid less for the pass every year. So I tend to disagree with those complaining about a poor experience (at least at any of those parks).

I was at the City this weekend and took just a few pictures of the area directly west of the Lumbercamp (where the queue to the new ride will be???).  I'll be honest - I have no idea what I'm looking at, but it's clear that there is zero active work going on at the moment.

This is looking east towards the AP lift hill.

This was my only trip this season - just a quick getaway - but it's always a joy to be at the City.

We are already gold members. Six flags STL is 20 mins away from us. We have 8 passes and to add the all park passport would cost $125 per pass. After the sale started I went to guest services and asked about the new all park MVP sale and she said we already had the all park passport added to all our passes because too many people called in to corporate to complain.

Corporate monopolies are never good. Get ready for non-competitive prices that will top Disney. Also expect quality and upkeep to slip and you will also see some parks and assets that were seen as former competition to be closed and liquidated. Meanwhile, smaller independent parks will feel the pinch and pressure to be absorbed as they try to compete.

I will say this has aged pretty well. At least two major parks are closing and several rides are being scrapped and retired across the chain. And guest experiences have been pretty abysmal at the parks across the board according to a lot of ramblings I've seen in the community with low quality food/accomidations and slow ride ops this season with a lot of rides not even operating. An unfortunate reality of the situation leaving a lot of resentment towards this merger from enthusiasts and the general public feeling they are not getting their full value of the ever increasing ticket prices.
