General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2026 Trip Reports
Last post by legoerosion - June 13, 2026, 11:45:52 AMMan, I can't wait for those mugs to be eventually phased out somehow. All it does is bring out the nasty in people. (From personal experience working, not saying you were).
Is the $1.50 that detrimental?

Last post by Duelist - June 13, 2026, 09:55:29 AM^ When we were there on Mother's Day almost all of the rides were down due to a Park-wide power surge. Eventually everything did come back up but I wonder if they are still having power issues?

Last post by Duelist - June 13, 2026, 09:51:16 AM^ Unless there was a newer email sent out since the one I got last August saying something different the wording was "family coaster" but they didn't specify a time frame. I figured it was for 2026 but we see how that turned out.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2026 Trip Reports
Last post by biscuitcreek - June 13, 2026, 09:41:36 AMWent again on 6/10 -- strange day. First stop was the lemonade wagon by the gazebo. The employee was leaning out the back window watching the street fight. It took us saying several sentences to get his attention. We handed him our Wildfire mug, and he told us it would be $4 for a refill. We told him it was less than that because of the date of the mug. He then told us this was his second day in MO, and his first day on the job. We asked him to look it up in the book. He flipped through a few pages and then told us that mugs before 2012 were no longer eligible for lower refill prices. By this time the line behind us was really getting long, so we asked for the mug back and we left. We got it refilled for 2.50 at the lemonade stand near Time Traveler. To be fair our mug no longer has a visible price on it. This experience made us wonder about new employee training.
Mystic River Falls was closed all day on a very hot and humid day. During early afternoon all of the rides in the fire district, Grand Exposition, and Wilson Farm were shut down as were Outlaw Run, Wildfire, and American Plunge. There was no bad weather or lightning, and some other rides continued to run. Eventually most of the closed rides reopened.
The actual Opera House entrance was being used instead of the side doors. The circus consists of 2 performers who jump rope, do tricks on a teeter-totter, and stack chairs. There has to be something better. Also saw the Wild West stunt/comedy show. There has to be something better.
You can see some of the construction while riding the train.

Last post by Swoosh - June 12, 2026, 09:42:10 PMQuote from: RowEleven on June 10, 2026, 01:43:53 PMThe Hyper/Stryker idea seems to be coming back around, which is a fun idea in concept, but not anything the park would build. If it's a Stryker model, it will be significantly less intense than Voltron and more terrain-focused.
In the past, the park has expressed distaste for building too far above the tree line. Because of that, I'm still of the opinion that this is a multi-lift mine train with an incredibly long track length and an incredibly low height requirement for all the kiddos.
Unless it's changed, zero lift hills

Who cares if it's a TNT replacement. It's another coaster coming already.
Swoosh, just to clarify, did the email say "family coaster for 2029" specifically? Or is that your speculation that its 2029?

Last post by RowEleven - June 10, 2026, 01:25:18 PMQuote from: legoerosion on June 10, 2026, 09:57:10 AMThe tight bundle of footers between PK and AP is what is currently swaying me away from the whole "mine train" idea that's been floating about. When I think of a mine train, I think of at least 6 to 12 car trains. It's hard to imagine something of that size being able to navigate whatever goes in that area.
At lower speeds, a longer roller coaster train would have no issue navigating that area. Think of how much track Big Bear Mountain fits into those little corners of Dollywood.

I got an email a couple of hours ago from SDC about the naming of a new family coaster being built. The name choices were:
Miner's Rush
Prospector's Rush
Daredevil Railway
I was asked which name I preferred (I picked Miner's Rush) and which names fit in with the theme of the park. I was then asked who I thought the name would appeal to (pre-teens, teens, adults, older adults, etc). Then I was asked to put the names in order as 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice and I put them in the order above. The first questions asked were if I and my family were season pass holders and to choose from the last 5 years if we had bought season passes (we have all 5 years). Unfortunately this sounds like a T-N-T replacement to me.
I'm not trying to be argumentative but I just wonder why do you assume this survey was for a 2029 coaster? SDC calls all their coaster "family coasters".
Because if we decided that the T-N-T replacement is after the current coaster being built then the survey and coaster name choices sound like a T-N-T replacement to me. Of course we could all be wrong and this could have everything to do with the 2027 project.
