A cute video...back in my time on park, I never heard of robbers getting more than a penny, nickel, or dime. I did hear that once in a while someone would pour part of a Coke on them, which they did not appreciate at all.

Construction/Rumors / Re: Future SDC Development Speculation (Long-term)
« on: August 07, 2016, 09:11:01 AM »
Talking Rocks was named FAIRY CAVE by original owner/developer Truman Powell, who sold the property to SDC many, many years ago...late 60s or early 70s. They renamed the cave because of a light and sound presentation they developed that covered how caves were formed...thus "talking" rocks. Truman's son is Walker Powell, who this year is100 years old. I saw him at Founders Day and spoke with him. Walker was an original SDC employee who worked at the duplicating lathe for years and years. By the way, Jack's son, Bruce, manages and operates Talking Rocks, and has for several years.

The photos were made into postcards, I think. It would not surprise me if someone found the post cards at a flea mkt. And had them framed. Looks nice!

I have really enjoyed the site, but dread the day you get too busy with other things and have to consider calling quits...just curious, how many folks are active on the site on a regular basis?  Thanks for your hard work, Shave!

I pulled Noel's picture from FB, but don't remember who posted it. A diving bell article? That would be great!

Other Parks / Allegator kills child at Disney Orlando.
« on: June 15, 2016, 05:40:14 PM »
Incident happened today, I think news reports said at a lake where it was posted no swimming. The kid and his dad were wading in the water at the time. Disney said it is trying to remove gators from their waters. Teams are searching for the gator. Dad and a couple other adults tried to rescue the kid with no luck.

I'd prefer more of a mine theme. However, in the early 60s, SDC had a heavy old west theme, which was in response to the western popularity then in film and TV. Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and so on. Gabby Hayes visited SDC for a personal appearance, others, too. By mid to late 60s, the Ozark mountain theme was more pronounced. Anyway, I will have to be a bystander on this attraction...spinning does not thrill me...I will have a fresh frozen lemonaide while the grandkids ride, lol!

A great bit of news! I have noticed the longer lines the last few years at the train, so perhaps they will run a third train on busy days. I am not sure they have enough property to extend the track,  but we will see.
