Professional baseball teams, especially minor league teams, and especially independent minor league teams, do this kind of thing all the time. For a premium payment ($300 or so, and up), you get to sign a contract showing that you were a professional baseball player. You get a uniform, the signed contract, a chance to take batting practice, and sit in the dugout for the game.
I think that's the kind of thing Rube is looking for.
