You learn something new everyday, but that one is nasty….not going to eat that again. Which just means for those that like it, I won’t be taking any away from them. I swear though what I had in 2020 was sweet compared to this year….but my kids have been threatening to put me in a nursing home so there is that….

Nope, I'm pretty sure I remember it well.... It wasn't brown gravy last year. This year's version didn't impress at all, was hard to choke down. The 2021 version was very good, I was so looking forward to eating it again...but didn't even finish it at our last visit :'(

Here's some recipes for cashew chicken, even the pioneer woman's recipe is sweet and doesn't contain brown gravy:

We love the Cashew chicken waffle cones.  Very good!

I really liked the cashew chicken waffle cone last year. To the point I was craving them. This year's version wasn't good in my opinion. It wasn't sweet like the year's before (kind of the way cashew chicken is at the oriental restaurant), this year's was in a brown gravy and wasn't something I'll eat again. Bring back the stuff from 2020....

I see they also have "Splash and Bubbles" which is a Jim Henson property. So this seems to be a natural fit and the two companies have already been working together. I find it interesting the vast influence Jim Henson properties are a part of and all the projects they are associated with....including Disney, PBS Kids, Sesame Street, Hersey, Coca Cola, Lady Gaga, Deadmau5, etc.

Will be interesting to see what they might be able to bring not only to the Entertainment Studios, but to the parks as well.

25,300 on park Saturday the 16th. I’m glad we’re here today. There is a bit of a crowd and food lines are existent but manageable.

It’s just 2:00, so I expect it to get busier. Rode MRF and got drenched this time on the final drop. Much better ride than what I experienced last year.

Having a great day.

A quick update on the day….food lines were long….everywhere. Tator Twist lines (2) were stretching all the way across the pathways, cinnamon bread was almost to the pizza place, etc. We didn’t buy the food passport….I couldn’t imagine standing in that many lines. It was just that busy today…workers seemed to be working as fast as they could.

The only extremely negative of the day were the Chicken Cashew Cone and Pumpkin Mac and Cheese Cone….both were not very good. The Cashew Chicken last year was in a sweet sauce and extremely good…but this year’s was in a brown gravy and wasn’t great. The Pumpkin Mac and Cheese just doesn’t work well together. Won’t be doing these again.

There were only two cabins left at Big Cedar (no rooms) each cabin is $4,765 / day. I have found some other places…but need multiple rooms (so it adds up). Friday is really booked solid, things open up a bit on Saturday. It’s going to be a busy weekend.

I’ll probably be giving Michelle or Lori a call…see if they know a house or condo somewhere.

Expect HUGE crowds this weekend. It's Oklahoma's Fall Break and I'm doing a last minute search for hotels, rentals, etc. for my family and there are not many options left (especially Friday night). Thousand Hills will not let you search for rooms this weekend...I did find some things for $4000+ a night (I do not have that kind of cash).

Anyway, should be a big crowd in Branson this weekend.

I still wish SFOT still had the Big Bend roller coaster. I was my first "big" coaster and I loved it. Even though it was legendary, it didn't make sense for the park to keep it, no matter how much I wanted them to. I wish they would rebuild it in a fashion that would work today - but it's forever a memory and one that I long for.

Duelist, I completely understand your concern and hope that the new Fire In The Hole will be very similar to the original. I consider us "purist" but we might be in a minority....I know a lot of families that don't have the same appreciation for that ride that we do. We went with a group of softball families once, and as much as I talked up the ride - most didn't ride it, or if they did, didn't have the same appreciation that I did. I think it's brilliant, but I've thought that since the first time I rode in 1979.

I know that change has to come, even Disney will close an iconic ride and make changes, improvements, etc. I'm excited to see what the park can do with new technology for the scenes and ride itself, possible drop tracks, backward sections, etc. - keep the original "idea" of the ride, but improve the overall ride experience.

This will be an interesting build for sure.

I notice no one is crying out for Fireman's Cemetery, lol! That is one of the last remnants of the tongue and cheek old SDC that I barely notice myself anymore, but will miss. That particular brand of humor defined the park for the first few generations, but now it probably seems sacrilegious.

It's easy enough to replicate and make a part of the queue.  Disney does it at Haunted Mansion.

Did you ever wonder if there are any real things buried there?

I thought it was once part of the queue for Fire in the Hole. I remember waiting in line and reading the tombstones.

I'm sure Swoosh has some inside scoop.....

So are we on the right track when we say - New fire in the hole, demolition of old ride, +new train station in 2022?

Or is the information you have - new fire themed roller coaster near fireman's landing?

I was looking at the height requirements of Firechaser Express and they were only 39" compared to Blazing Fury at 42" (Fire in the hole is 48, 36" with adult). Could they just mirror what they did at Dollywood and build a Firechaser at SDC and refurbish the Fire in the Hole with new track from RMC? Or is the SDC building in much worse shape than DW's - being only 6 years different in age?

Just some random thoughts...

ah, very cool. Starting now for 2023 should make for it to be a significant sized attraction!! is this in that "triangle" area behind fireman's landing....or closer to side where the wilderness water toboggan was located?

Construction/Rumors / Re: Future SDC Development Speculation (Long-term)
« on: September 13, 2021, 04:42:16 PM »
I see that "someone" has been spreading the FITH rebuild rumor on reddit, with the added tidbit about it being an RMC project with a new powered car design. ......... I definitely don't trust RMC to build a reliable ride, especially with a brand new highly technical design.

This rumor is probably because RMC did a lot of track work on the Blazing Fury ride at Dollywood. The current track for both rides is that custom flat type rail and not the round...so more than likely they're just piecing those things together for the rumor (Hopefully). My wish though would be, with other manufactures with drop tracks, forward and reverse launches, track switches, etc., that SDC would go with one of those manufactures to give us another world class ride.

Give us a big ride like Disney does with a smaller "show building" inside the park with a large "ride building" outside the park hidden by trees, landscaping, etc.

Branson Talk / The Branson Coaster Accident
« on: June 22, 2021, 12:03:00 PM »
Did you all see where there was an accident at "The Branson Coaster" last weekend? What I read from Facebook posts they say the 12-year old boy became scared, stopped his car, then proceeded to exit but became trapped under the coaster? I haven't seen any official updates - so I'm hoping the child is recovering and they have fixed the issue on the ride. Is there any official word anywhere on what might have happened??

Other Parks / SFA - Harley Quinn - Support Vibration
« on: June 22, 2021, 11:55:34 AM »
Did you see where the Harley Quinn ride at Six Flags America malfunctioned causing one of the support columns to begin harmonic vibration? This kind of vibration could have busted the ride completely apart.

Here's a tweet that has video of the support vibrating: https://twitter.com/aoEngineering/status/1406805603792654336?s=20

Those two were stalwarts of SDC entertainment for ages - at least a decade or more? I have heard grumblings that the park got into some copyright disputes from some of those shows - we all pointed out that most of the tunes belonged to Disney and were only slightly changed... Even if that is true, it shouldn't be that hard to work around and retool. Obviously there are plenty of community theatres around the country that manage to put on great productions all the time without raiding the Disney music vault. I wonder if they got scapegoated or if the park simply doesn't want to bother with these kinds of productions anymore.

The shows at Christmas especially were massive draws. Does SDC really think they can replace all their entertainment with karaoke style shows like other cheap amusement parks have?

They spent all that money on Ruben's... I know it wasn't that great of a show, but I expected it to be improved over time. The stage setup was pretty sweet at least...

 :-X :-X :-X

Music Copyright can be very much policed and there can be really big fines. I know in one of my videos I did for St. Jude - just some regular instrumental music was $1,000 for the right to use it - so we found some free music, but it just didn't have the same feel.

I owned a gym and there were fees just to play music for people hear while working out.

But probably similar to SDC, my local high school had to completely change their Show Choir performance because they couldn't get the rights to some songs. I also filmed a video for the school and we had destroy it because of contested copyright issues.

I just don't know though what constitutes infringement - some popular songs today sample so much from other popular songs - but no credit is mentioned. Just listen to the new Jonas Brother's song Leave Before You Love Me.....and Wham!'s Last Christmas. Way too similar to not give credit to the original writers.
