Not that I can add too much to the conversation, but the clearing wasn't just occurring right behind GG, but all the way up to the RR crossing by the old toboggan tower. They look to be leaving the "big" trees but cleaning up everything else in the area. I took a couple pictures, but they didn't really turn out well and you can see things better on the negative-g forum posted earlier ( http://www.negative-g.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4964 ).

This construction is going to be well documented......as long as GG stays open, and they do not fence all the way around the train tracks. A lot of nice view points are available.

Bringing up an old topic......

Reading posts of people's first visit to SDC and upcoming first visits, I was wondering if you remembered what it was like that first time you went?

My first visit was May of 1979 and I just turned 8 years old. I remember having a great time playing in the tree house, riding Fire In the Hole and the train. I also remember not wanting to ride the flooded mine because I thought I heard someone say there were bats in there and my dad being upset with me for not riding. I'm not sure how long we stayed but it seemed like all day. I had no clue about Grandfather's Mansion or the Float Trip....man I really wish I would have been able to ride the Float Trip. That was the first of many visits with the family.

My daughter and I went this last year (2013), and she doesn't ride much so we basically did just a few rides, took in some shows, ate food, and looked through all the shops (spend two days doing this). That really was one of my most favorite trips of the year, it reminded me so much of the SDC that I experienced growing up.

Some "smart signs" around Branson would be great. Letting people know what traffic conditions are and giving alternate routes. But there is a lot around Branson that I would change......

Something else I like that SF does that wouldn't be too hard to SDC to add would be the buy the refill cup, get free refills that day.

I would also love to see a hotel one day that is on property......or real close so you can walk back and forth. This would get rid of the HWY 76 headache, etc. Also, if they built it so that it could be accessed by all guest (it could serve as a nice break for people to relax and have a great sit down full service restaurant meal.) Maybe with Dollywood getting one, we'll see one soon.

I know they have the flash drives for pictures that you can purchase when you leave, and then bring back to the park, but what if they had a better photo package right when you entered the park. For example:
1. Purchase a flash drive at the entrance for $50 bucks and they give you a wristband identifier for the day.
2. All on ride photos, cave pictures, saloon pics, etc. that are taken that day are free to download just show your wristband to the photo booth.
3. traveling photographers throughout the City that will take "party pics" of wristband groups and you can download all the pictures to the flash drive at the end of the day.
Basically a easy way to get "professional" photos of your family throughout the day.
4. Maybe have some other "photo spots" throughout the park that could be used by the service or just people wanting to take pictures (kind of like the old Kodak Picture Spots you could find in parks).

I know some people get pretty annoyed with the picture people, but if it was a "service" you could purchase to get more than just one or two photos, I think it could be a good thing.

So what are some other services you would like to see expanded, added.......or maybe even removed.

I rode Outlaw Run and Texas Giant this last week....and as if you guys didn't already know.....Outlaw Run is the much better coaster. Texas Giant has a great drop, and several great moments of airtime. But Texas Giant does not have the same feeling of speed and intensity that Outlaw Run has. I can't wait for March to arrive so I can ride Outlaw Run again.

My daughter and I just jumped ship in that area....we crossed over a small rock wall and bailed into the Lumber camp....then took the "back roads" to the American Plunge area and out of that mess.

Went on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Saturday was a mad house especially around the Saloon trying to get people in and out. We were at the park from 12:30 to 10:00 on Saturday and had a great day. My son said he had to do the upstairs queue line for Wildfire the wait was over an hour. At the end of the night, things cleared out and we were able to ride everything we wanted. As far as parking was concerned. The park opened at noon, we got there about 12:15 and the preferred lot was almost already full, we parked down by Shuttle stop 1 and the lot was pretty full just about everywhere else. Shuttle Stop 1 had it's own little shuttle running that day. Speaking of parking, the top free lots were already closed and we saw they were already directing traffic to the Notch lot when we drove by at 12:00. Here is a picture of the crowd:

I'd expect a big weekend this weekend because most of the Oklahoma schools are on Fall Break. We'll be headed up on Friday and Saturday ourselves.

Here's a little video I put together of our trip to SDC. This was my first time at making video and shot everything with my iPhone. Maybe the next trip we go, I'll do more filming and try to get more footage of everything.

Construction/Rumors / Re: Your Festival Ideas
« on: September 18, 2013, 04:25:21 PM »
I would really like to see a real BBQ Festival........One that actually brings in teams to compete and win prizes. They have these competitions all around the country and they attract large crowds. Could you imagine smelling smokers all around the park, and you purchasing a test kit to eat a little something from everyone. Maybe make it the finale to the BBQ and Bluegrass festival they already have.

I'd also like to see a "County Fair" festival......something that people could enter real contests (baking, sewing, etc.). Having multiple venders all over the park where you could buy their goods (breads, cobblers, pies, etc.). Something similar to the harvest festival but make it mainly food related.

Also a major music festival - Bluegrass, country, folk, etc. - make it a "fan fair" of the midwest. Meet and greet opportunities with music legends as well as some of the new artist just trying to get a big break.

Anyway, those are just some of my thoughts....
