General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2019 Daily Attendance
« on: November 19, 2019, 08:06:14 PM »
I could be wrong, but I doubt SDC expected to exceed or even match their 2018 numbers. 2018 saw the largest single investment in their history with TT. So I'm not sure they should see it as a disappointment if their numbers are down this year even with the festival enhancements. 2020 may be a different story with a huge investment into Mystic River Falls.

I really enjoyed this video, got me in the Christmas spirit! The city looks beautiful. I can't wait to see the new tree in person!

With these numbers, I see the Harvest Festival definitely getting expanded. Especially since it seems the summer numbers were down some this year. I wouldn't be surprised if this festival begins in September 2020.

I'm very interested in Pumpkin Nights' attendance numbers. They've been hyping this all year on social media. I'm expecting it to do well and be a nice rebound from the slow summer SDC experienced.

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2020 Project(s) and Park Developments

Love the announcement. As others have said, I love how the theme of the ride is being tied into the park's history. However, it is a little confusing that the theme is a cave, but the ride is not entirely enclosed. All well, it doesn't bother me, just a thought. I'm happy for the enclosed portions we will be receiving. The theming around the ride in the concept looks fantastic. I love how the final splashdown goes through the queue building. That will bring amazing kinetic energy to the building. I'm not concerned that this won't be family friendly. Not even in the slightest.

The price tag on the attraction and BBQ restaurant is staggering. I did not expect that much. Has SDC ever had back to back attraction additions (TT, MRF) total this much capital? Especially when you combine the costs of Pumpkin Nights and new Christmas tree.

What a fantastic time to be an SDCFan!! I can't wait to experience this entire new area "Rivertown" and also look forward to an amazing future for the park.

Really excited to see this announcement on next Tuesday. I'm thrilled so far by the marketing campaign and the ride's connection to Marvel Cave and the park's history. Like others have said, I'm also blown away by the size of the ride. It is much more than I was expecting.

Has anyone heard anything regarding a celebration of SDC's 60th season in 2020? Will there be a celebration as there was for the 50th?

Very interesting article. I cannot wait to experience SW:GE someday. Interesting thoughts on not including the score within the land. At WWoHP, the score is used throughout the land and it does not make me feel as if I am not in a "real place." So, it is interesting that Disney chose to omit such an iconic piece of Star Wars.

This sounds very cool! I hope to try it sometime this summer.

Such a neat video of SDC's history that I am just now getting around to viewing. Classic SDC!

Old Guy, it's great to have you posting on the boards again!

It'll be a sad day when FITH is replaced with a new version. I know that they are not taking care of it the way it needs to be and is a shell of its former self, but it is still an original SDC classic. I'll just have to come to grips over the next few years that this could be happening.

Other indoor dark rides I would love to see is the old Ice House concept and a dark ride themed around Marvel Cave, as others have mentioned.

Even if the argument is the base may not be wider, the new LED tree will draw more visitors to the square similar to how Christmas in Midtown drew more people to Midtown. Overcrowding is going to continue to be a problem on the square until they reconfigure some things.

I agree, the planters may be the first to go.

I'm excited for the new tree. The concept art looks fantastic and it was overdue. However, I am a little worried about how they are going to make this work. Overcrowding is already an issue on the square during OTC, and a taller tree means a wider base for the tree. This will limit room on the square even more. I'm wondering if we will see some reconfiguring of the paths around the square this offseason or at some point during the 2019 season.

Is it just me or are SDC's social media accounts much more active this offseason? It seems everyday they are posting something new, sometimes not even in relation to the 2019 season. The types of posts are also different. For instance, one day they asked to post a gif of how waiting until March to visit SDC makes you feel.

This is a fun change I have seen. But, I could be imagining things.

I'm amazed at the level of clearing being done for this project. I also think it is very cool they are keeping parts of the old building as a reminder of the past. I expect the area will have more surprises as a reminder for LROTO similar to the BSF car on the PK building.

I'm excited for the potential of the new area, although a little concerned about the crowding this project may cause at the park in spring/summer months of 2019. Lost River was one of the busiest rides on park, and now the other rides will have to make up for its loss.
