I kind of hate to admit this but, I've never been to Celebration City. My family just never saw the need to go. Maybe I'll go there someday.

SDC Memories/ Park History / Your Most Memorable SDC Trip

What is your most memorable trip to Silver Dollar City?

Mine was four or five years ago when we took my great grandma up to Silver Dollar City. She was in her early 80s or late 70s at the time. It was her only trip to a park like this and to Branson for that matter. She loved looking at all the old things in Silver Dollar City, (the church, school, all the old things on the edge of the sidewalk, the music, and the friendly folk). All the old men working in the park loved her to death. All the craftsmen would stop what they were working on just to talk to her. I have a ton of pictures of her with the Silver Dollar City employees. She also loved riding the train!! We also got her to ride Lost River of the Ozarks. The only reason we got her on that was because we told her she wouldn't get wet and it was a very slow ride. She ended up getting soaked...

At the time my sister was too young to ride Wildfire so her and my great grandma watched us from the observation deck. She loved seeing the expression on our faces.

She passed away in 2005 at the age of 85. I've been to Silver Dollar City with my best friends, my parent's friends, church friends, family, family reunion type trips. None of those trips mean as much to me as the memories I made with my great grandma on that weekend. It was such a fun trip.

I'll look around for some pictures since this used to be my favorite place in SDC as a kid. I'm sure my mom has some pictures in the bottom of her hope chest maybe.

S&S is a great company. I would love for them and SDC to hook up again.

Their also building a direct path so people don't have to walk all the way around the park right?

Oh, hi there! I remember you! Gosh, I don't think I've been on the RCT boards since sometime in May... Man, I'm gonna have a LOT to catch up on....

Yeah, you have missed A LOT. I think I PMed you a couple times there.

That's a fun looking coaster! Now, is Vekoma the only company that makes that type of coaster, or are there other more reputable companies that have a similar coaster in their repertoire?

I really don't know if their the only company. But if Silver Dollar City doesn't like them, then I doubt it's going to happen. Maybe shavethewhales knows....

I love the idea of Silver Dollar City getting a wooden coaster. But I also love this other rumor I've heard. I am a frequent visitor to the RCT3 forums, my name is kc_rc_fan, where people post their parks or rides they've built. (Joy, I have seen you floating around there often).

Anyways, there is a member there who's husband works for Herschend as a designer (Don't quote me on this because I don't know his exact job title or anything) but she once posted a roller coaster that was going to be put into a park in 2009 (the same year SDC is supposedly getting a new coaster). She has not said what park it's going into but I think the pictures she has posted and the Youtube video she gave just screams Silver Dollar City.

Note: All pictures and the video are RCT3. None of it is concept pictures, models, or artists rendering.

I really hope this ride becomes a reality at Silver Dollar City because it would make a great addition to the park. What do you guys think?

I wasn't born when this ride was here, but I did see Conductor Sam's blog entry about it, and my parents have also talked about this ride. It seems like a really fun family ride that I would've enjoyed. I doubt it will ever come back though...I'm sad to say.

I really think this is a great addition to a already good park! I'm excited because I'm probably going to get to visit Dollywood in '08!!
