General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2021 Crowds/Trip Reports
« on: November 24, 2021, 08:49:00 PM »
The City was packed today.  Ride lines and food lines took forever.  Limited staff working and not controlling crowds are a big concern for safety and a good experience for the guests that spent a lot of money for families.  I have been a big fan of SDC for many years but this experience was terrible.  Food lines at least an hour wait then ran out of food when you finally made it to the counter frustrated many people.  You could not move in the crowd at several locations.  No concern for Covid.  There were hardly any hand sanitizer and no hot water.  Bath rooms needed attention.  The kicker was trying to go out to my car to get a jacket, then not allowing me to enter because they were at capacity.  Capacity should have occurred hours before then.  When I  bought my tickets online 3 months ago it stated the crowd would be limited.  Why did it take capacity at 6:00 p.m.?  The best line was a SDC gate keeper that said you shouldn’t have come today it’s too crowded.  Really.  SDC needs to fix some major problems.

We made a unscheduled trip yesterday with the Texas grandkids.  Not much of a crowd which was very nice getting around the park.  It was a nice cloudy 58 degrees and no wind.  This was our first time to visit in about 2 years.  These are a few of the things I noticed:  People smoking at the Park in several areas.  A couple of the BBQ Fest vendors were not very polite working with people.  The cave guide was excellent and made kids feel welcomed.  The ride operator in the Mine separated our family members on the boats.  There was no one in line.  Very strange.  They sold out of chocolate strawberries at 5pm.  If you are going to stay open until 7:00 you should have enough to get through the day.  The lady said they sell out everyday at 5:00.  The park was trash free.  The bathrooms continue to need a lot of cleaning.  Shuttles not running very quickly. We spent an hour waiting on trams to get in and get back.  On the bus tram you couldn’t hear the driver address the crowd.  No microphone or speaker system.  Disappointed in many things on our visit.  I always get season tickets, but hope my visits later in the year improve.

Visited SDC on Thursday. My second trip this month.  Positive items: Bathrooms much cleaner (thank you), tram drivers are great, food was good (hash), more food vendors open on this trip.  Negative: citizens are on cell phones, Thunderation very rough, need to update the train ride.  Many riders complained about the same monologue and jokes for many years.

Took the family and my 2 1/2 year old grand daughter to SDC on Tuesday.  Several attractions for the little ones and great ride operators who truely care about kids.  Looking around the park as a season ticket holder that hasn't been at SDC since 2015, I'm a little concerned on the conditions of the park.  Every bathroom I was in didn't have paper towels and had some cleaning issues.  A few of the areas need some maintenance work pretty bad.  Employees at the restaurants need to be better interacting with guests.  They seemed distracted.  The new areas where the crowds are looked great ,but older park areas need to be updated.  Shows were standing room only.  Always a hit.  Parking lot driver's excellent.  Thought it's interesting that they are paving entrance roads during the busy summer trying to get in the parking lot.  Most of the food was good.  Two skillet places ran out of food it was a 30 minute wait.  Not good for customers.  Overall my grand daughter had a great first visit and many memories were made that will last a life time.  Her favorite ride was The Flooded Mine and walking through Grandfathers House.

I don't believe this will ever be built.  Provide sidewalks a better dollar investment.

We always enjoyed Rowdy Beaver.  The one in Eureka Springs has better food.  I did enjoy the local groups that played in Branson while you ate your food.

The Super 8 in Branson is real nice and very reasonable.  Great owners who enjoy there guests.

1. Parking Lots.  Dangerous.
2. Ticket Area to congested.
3. Cave tour.  New areas need to be open.
4. More rides using the natural hills/trees.
5. New shows/more shows.
I'm not buying a season ticket this year because SDC is always the same....nothing new.

A casino resort on the Landing could bring additional revenue and a larger crowd to the Branson area.  A minor league stadium would be a good addition.  The music shows have decreased in attendance.  We need new marketing ideas.

Yogi Bear Campground was great.  We stayed there on several occasions.  I believe they even had a water slide.  What I miss were the bumper cars and carnival rides on the strip next to the indoor mini golf.  They built motel rooms and took the great rides and batting cages away.
