I love FitH, but I'm honestly shocked to see it on that list, especially up that high.  But it's also a rather oddly compiled list, including not just rides but shows (Mickey and the Magician), parades (Festival of Fantasy at 46), night spectaculars (World of Color) and fireworks presentations (Happily Ever After).  And to say that FitH is a better ride than Tower of Terror, Haunted Mansion, Monster's Inc, and Splash Mountain in Tokyo?  Or than Disneyland's Fantasmic?  Sorry.  There's absolutely no way.

FitH also, as much as I like it, in it's current condition doesn't even come close to comparing to the other dark rides on there, all of which really outclass it as far as quality goes- almost completely due to FitH's lack up upkeep.

I'm not surprised that Disney, and to a lesser extent Universal and Abu Dhabi, dominate that list.  If anything I'd almost say that it would be motivation to the PTB to scrap and replace FitH in an effort to actually have a ride that would deserve a place on the list.

One other thing to note- as much as I enjoy TPI as well, it's also a niche group and site that represents just a small select group of people and their views.  It's interesting to see SDC find a spot in it, but overall I don't think it means much.

Well jeeze debbie downer, why are you even on this board? Get lost with this crap, FiTH is an outstanding ride.

PTB had better not remove this ride or replace it. As time traveler theme is any indication, theyd mess it up.

Classic and has soul. A favorite of many of my family, including my neices and nephews. Daughters arent old enough yet and if they take it out before they can ride Im done with season passes.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Season pass upgrade
« on: June 12, 2019, 09:38:18 PM »
Hello again all,
Next week I'm visiting, and I'm going to take advantage of the teacher's single day pass deal that SDC has going on.  I will get a free ticket for myself and a half off one for my wife, and my three girls are all under the age of 3.  I usually just buy season passes, but will be upgrading our single day tickets to season passes before we leave instead.  I've never done this before.

Where exactly do you go to upgrade?  Is it somewhere located in the hospitality house/Ozark marketplace in the exit?  I'm sure that the tickets are purchased at the entrance to the right....but I'm not sure of where the upgrade should take place.

Thanks for the tips, and thanks to SDC for recognizing teachers.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Busiest/Slowest days?
« on: June 12, 2019, 09:35:22 PM »
Hello all, I realize this is in no way scientific nor can we get a perfect answer, but I'm interested in what others have observed...
Of course this can depend on the weather and school calendar, etc.., but all else equal:

Which days are the "slowest" at SDC?

If I had to order it from busiest days to slowest days, would it go like this?

Saturday
Friday
Thursday
Sunday
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday

Or some other order?

Man, while it is true that Corkscrew pass sucks and is a bottleneck, that water tower thing in the center is a true SDC landmark that has been there my entire life. It's one of those little things that is mildly authentic and very thematic that ties the whole area together. Hope they have some new theming/details in mind to make up for the loss....

I liked the water chute that ran all the way down to the riverfront as well. The area will look really empty without it.
Corkscrew pass sucks? I thought it was a nice short cut through the park. Never saw it full but I have had to pass many a slow walker just like elsewhere in the park.

I am a tad sad to see lost river go but excited about what could be done there. No reason it cant still be a hopping riverfront. I hope they keep the rock stream that ran down by the dockside and dont see why they couldnt.

Of all this, the part that hurts the most is honestly losng the Dockside theatre. I really liked that place and it was set up so well by the stream and lost river, etc. was my favorite venue to watch a show. Liked the big sign up above and the wood benches, too.
And I am kind of surprised they could do away with it and still have space for shows, I have to believe they replace it with a new one somewhere. But I guess this makes the cajun connection decision make more sense.

I was sure to watch them twice and walk around that area when I visited in December.

We can only hope those level headed people are still employees.
Good point, sure hope so.

They had better keep the Baldknobbers theme and the art from the que.
If they get rid of it, may as well not even have a Fire in the Hole or even an SDC for that matter.

Its turning out just like places like towns in Montana...people come in because of how great it is, then go anout trying as hard as they can to change it to be just like where they came from, in their case the cities of california, and in SDCs case other generic theme parks.

Hopefully this is all just a rumor, but if they do tear it out, it better be done right and with original theme, etc.
Just think about those old buildings, firemans audio outside, town and creek props...theyre about to be gone forever. Nothing lasts forever but its still sad.
If youre doin this PTB, do it right by the history of the ride and park.

Sand, what hotel are you speaking of?
I want to be loyal to KD but will not give those managers my business, so no more Classic for me.
Is it the HOF?
Need a place for tomorrow night, will call on the way there.
Thanks for your help.

Branson Talk / Re: Ride The Ducks Boat Capsizes in Storm
« on: July 20, 2018, 07:37:43 AM »
This is terrible. Families out trying to have a good time and then this? Horrible.

Ive not ridden the ducks in years and never have after those others sank elsehwere. They are not safe and need to go away, imo. I understand this was a unique storm but those things are floating traps. Im surprised about the storm and im surprised 11 people are dead, but im not surprised one sank.

Prayers to all involved.

We enjoyed Cedric and his group when they were in Riverside Playhouse. I do recall some people saying it was the end of an era when the Haygoods left and when the Cumberland Quartet left.
32 years of cajun connection ends after this season...Id say thats an end of an era, wouldnt you?
I didnt say it was a death wish.
Quite a run indeed and they do a great job!

Smelling the fresh baked goods from the bakery when I first walk into the park. I also enjoy sitting on the back patio of the culinary school. Another favorite is inside Wilderness Church looking out the back window.
Yes the view out the back of the church isnt as good as it once was but that church is all great.

Its a great spot, almost put it myself.
I just wish their burgers were as good as they are at the wagon works.

« on: May 27, 2018, 09:59:27 AM »
Wat are some of your favorite small spots in the city? Theres a lot to mention but Ill start...

I love the pathway leading down to and around the knifeshop at Christmastime. Just somethin about it lit up at night, and its never crowded.

Another favorite spot of mine is standing by the ribhouse watching the LR go by.
