I went past yesterday.   They have repainted the Silver Bullet back to silver and black.  It looks great.

I got all 3 books from Amazon.com   You can find all sorts of used books there.  I think I paid 8.00 for The Littlest Mule and it even hade the record that came with it.  They have all 3 books there, I just looked.

They did some work in Grandfathers Mansion.  The main thing I noticed is that they re felted the pool table.  But now the ball rolls a little different.  It still goes inthe hole but sometimes it hits the ball in the side pocked a little.

Construction/Rumors / Re: New Parking Lot/Road Plans
« on: March 22, 2008, 09:26:45 PM »
That is the only way to do it right now.  A friend of mine had to park at Noch and wait an hour for a tram to bring them to the park.   The new road is nowhere close to done and that parking lot is even further.  I got there early both days and it was fine.  They have extended the hours till the end of the month from 9am to 7pm now.

They have done a lot of work on the park.  I really enjoyed seeing all the updates.   The baloon ride was not repainted but did recieve new seats and seat belts.  The Flooded mine got a new paint job.  It looks great.  Fire in the hole got some new timbers that support the track. (it is amazing what you can see in there when you take along a mag light...lol).

There are some things that are not so good.

the Duplicating Lathe is not working because they sent the motor off to get it fixed and have no idea when it will come back.  The operator said he will be supprised if it is back before Christmas.

Birdie's Cabin is closed to the public now.  They said it was not Structurally sound.

The tree house is still closed and When I asked about it I was told the only way to save it is for all of us to write in to the main office.

On a possitive note the guy that has been working the American Plunge (log ride) for years said thay are planning to revamp the ride and he wants vistors to write in and let them know that they need to add back the other half of the ride they cut out when they took away the float trip.  It is all still there and the water still flows thru it but it is bypassed. He said there is also talk to bring things back to the tunnel but it would have to be all projection because when it was reconstructed they removed all the cool stuff behind the walls.

I need to go stop a fight between my kids..   more later.

[There is a doorway to the right of the "Do not look in this hole" hole. One of those employee only things? (If its still there that is) Just up from Jack and Mary's? There is (or was?) a coart yard with a tree in the middle just behind that door. rock wall and seating around it. Theaming on the back of Grandfathers mansion and the other buildings around it. Why?  This is the old mid town public restroom area. Before the ones at the bottem of hill street (Cardiac Hill) were built. Just a pointless fact

It is still there.  I opened the door just to Check.  There was a nice lady on her way out.  She let me in to look around. (only at SDC would they let you do that)

The building to the left of the curlycue bridge over the train tracks in midtown, is the sight of the origanal train depot!. Last time I looked there were still stairs down there.

They stairs are still there.   They are really overgrown but they are there.

I had so much fun looking around the park for the things we talk about on this site.

Opening day was good.  My daughter and I were there Thurs and Friday.  We got to the park at 8:05 so we could eat breakfast.  I parked in parking lot C.  At 8:30 when there was 30 people waiting for a tram and it was not running yet I called SDC.  The girl that answered the phone told me the part did not open till 10.  I reminded her that they served breakfast at 8.  She sent a tram.  They were expecting 7500 people and the final total for the first day was 16421...   They were under staffed and they only had one set of cars on each coaster running.  Friday was much better.  They were more prepared.  all in all it was a great 2 days.

I have never thought the food at SDC was over priced.  The cost of the kids meals here are the same as a happy meal at McDonalds.  At Christmas time they had the Buffets that were 13.99.  At first I Thought that was high but then found out it included the free drinks as well, and as many refills as I needed.  Most parks charge $5 for a drink and there are no refills.

Aunt Polly's Menu

Kid's Meals (for children 11 and under)
  Corn Dog $2.99
Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich $2.99
Peanut Butter, Banana & Fresh Strawberry Sandwich $3.59
  Chicken Bites $3.59
