Branson Talk / Re: Sight and Sound
« on: May 07, 2017, 09:57:26 PM »
Been to a couple of their biblical based productions and wish they would start up another theater with a similar concept based on American History.

No kidding! Was really interested in seeing what that theater is about, but turned off by the subject matter. I understand they're going after a certain demographic, but that demo isn't sustainable due to the age of the average Branson tourist.

You say that but when we went last season the place was packed with 20 something year olds and people in their thirtys with their children.

Random Talk / Re: Your Travels outside of Branson for 2017
« on: April 15, 2017, 10:02:10 PM »
This will be a off year for SDC for our family.  Saving up our vacation dollars for a different trip.  We talked about doing the Disney thing (again) but they kids wanted a different adventure (as did I).

I just booked a cruise for the family for October.  Got a great deal on a family suite.  Sailing out of Galveston and touring the western Caribbean for 7 days.  Wife and I took non-kids getaway cruise last year and thought they would love it.  Thinking about taking a day for Six Flags Dallas on the drive down and/or the Galveston pier.

Also planning a get away with the wife this summer.  Probably NYC to catch a broadway show she wants to see.  I've go a airline voucher and miles that will probably make that trip pretty affordable.

Plus I still have some work trips in pending for this year.  I'll probably be going to FL (just north of Tampa/Busch Gardens), Allentown (dorney and maybe SFGA), South Carolina (Carawinds) this year.  Hoping and praying I can carve out a 1/2 day during one of these visit to get some coasters in.  I literally drive by Dorney and Busch Gardens multiple times last year without having any time to go.

We are cruising in Oct as well.  Carnival Breeze 15-22nd.  We try to cruise every other year.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Barbara Summers
« on: March 23, 2017, 09:05:16 AM »
Barbara Lynn Summers that has worked at the park for 25 years has passed away at only 47 years old.   She is the baker that makes the cup cakes and the wonderful bread pudding at Eva and Delilahs.  I talked to her opening week and she had told me she was so excited because she was getting her 25 year sign this year.   I hope the still do this for her.

They used to have several great water slides.  Part of the tunnel for one of them is by the tin Lizzys.

I saw both shows last weekend and had the same thoughts about the vocals.   It makes me wonder if with all of the cast changes this year maybe they haven't changed the presets on the sound board.   It makes a huge difference when you get new people that may not project like the others did.  Just a thought.

Branson Talk / Re: The Branson Shuffle starts early

I guess I am the only one that comes to Branson because of the patriotic and more importantly for the Christian atmosphere.  I am 42 and have 2 children.  I appreciate that I can take my children to these shows and not have to worry what they see any hear.  And before you think I only take my girls to religious things we also go to New York and have taken them to see broadway shows like Rent and Book of Mormon.   I go to Branson because it is Branson and we go to New York to see New York.   By the way my girls are 11 and 13.

The Problem with Moving White Water there is I really don't think there is an more land there than where they are currently at.   If they ever move it they would need to find a spot where they could expand the park.

The Shuffle has started early.  Raiding the Country Vault is moving to Starlite Theater and #1 Hits of the 60's Moving to Clay Cooper Theater.  Looks like we are also losing a few Shows.

I just saw this morning that the Classic Motor Inn is up for sale... $1.7M

It has been for a few years now.  The couple that own it want to move closer to their grandchildren.
